I really need Japanese people to know I’ve never met a single American of any political persuasion, race, or religion who expressed anger about what happened at Fukushima. It’s unthinkable. I’d never ever heard of that before today on Japanese twitter.

@combatmedic @planefag When I first learned about those elderly volunteers trying to save the youth from exposure I thought that seemed exactly like what I as an American believe the Japanese to be. Kind of the reverse of the “be the American that Japan thinks you are” meme. Brave, selfless, heroic.

英仏大使たちのあのTwitterとか、今のアメリカのBBQと車とか、各国のトラディショナルなものを外人(日本人)に褒められて白人がめっちゃ喜んでるのを見ると、自国内ではそういうのを「いいよね！」と言い辛い雰囲気なのかなというのが察せられて、どこも大変なんやねぇ…とやや同情的な気持ちになる。
