This was my first Zelda game as a kid and I do think, looking back on it now, people had a point about modern Zeldas being very slow. I only played Ocarina again for a few hours and I'm already done with two dungeons. Helps to have some memory of the game, but still.

@ReelRhoades @BOENSAW @Mastu_Denton Gba games had this issue as well. Games were brighter to compensate for the screen but when run through an emulator or external display it just looks to bright.

@BOENSAW @Mastu_Denton It actually does because the 3DS wasn’t using common LCD screens; these were often state of the art Parallax Barrier screens that often suffered from harsh darkness on original hardware, especially in 3D settings where the darker an area was; the more messed up depth would be.

@Heroine__P_ Not really. Art is subjective. Years ago you'd get laughed at for even calling games art by art snobs similar to yourself. I got a couple sony pvm and theyre overpriced for the new guy getting into retro which is truly the real death spiral. Scalpers ruin hobbies

Ocarina of Time is one of the greatest works of the medium, a genuinely beautiful work of art. Twilight Princess, while a good game, is primarily a reheated version of OOT made for edgy 2000s hot topic kids who spent 3 years crying about cell-shading.

@suckyshadow @The24thFrame It got overshadowed by more ambitious programmers basically. Still fun. Youre actually much later in the timeline when we're talking wii. I have skyward sword and played the wii edition of Twilight Princess. I get why Nintendo isnt that proud of it.

@DOlvera @The24thFrame I am in my mid 30s. I was a teenager in high school when it came out and we were excited for sword slashing with the wiimote and a cool, dark Zelda game.

GameCube was strong enough for more features than you see on twilight princess. theres a reason why so many games were dominated by gta. Valve bungee rockstar etc. software/simulation felt groundbreaking

@InsaneMegaCD Yes. I'm the opposite: an American Sega fan who doesn't even like Sonic. I love Sega's arcade games, and enjoy their consoles in proportion to the quality of their ports.
And PC CD-ROM got better ports, tbh. God bless Expert Software!

I suspect that many so-called "Sega fans" in America were really just Sonic fans and didn't really care about anything else from Sega 😅

A normal person from 1995 did not want: - The Virtual Boy (because migraines) - A Sega system that didn't have a primary Sonic game made just for it (Saturn, as underrated as it is) - The PC-FX and it's lack of 3D GPU - The Atari Jaguar

@InsaneMegaCD It was my first game i ever played had a genesis and i still have a soft spot for it. Streets of rage was really popular and still is. I learned about phantasy star and shining force just as an adult going back to try more of the library. Burned a popful mail copy only recently

@mmmordred @ANJUonIine My phantasy star iv cart had the battery replaced by the seller its a large file . All the others carts i have using batteries on genesis still save luckily. Sonic 3 and knuckles is cool cause it uses an early form of flash. holds your save well when its not dusty lol

@DOlvera @ANJUonIine yeah genesis is sick but even it is getting up there, look at Phantasy Star for instance.
rom carts are great on gen, i had a model 1but wanted a genesis 3 bc it was nice and tiny.
these days i primarily emulate on a nice 4:3 flatscreen just bc of space.

@mmmordred @ANJUonIine I hear you but i havent had to fix anything. Its usually the cartridges own save that corrupts which is a simple battery diy. Flash carts fix that. Genesis is pretty cheap to obtain still and its my fave. Nintendo infamously has more greedy fans which is why its priced so bad.
