Fascinating read from the FT on how Iran's IRGC used a UAE procurement network to acquire advanced Chinese satellite tech for its drone program. The geopolitical irony is striking. The UAE hosted Telesun, the front company that secured this equipment, while the IRGC was actively firing over 2,800 missiles and drones at the UAE itself. The OSINT details in the report are excellent. A 1.8-ton shipment of Chinese StarWin satellite antennas moved from Shanghai to Dubai's Jebel Ali port in late 2025. It was then picked up by an Iranian vessel named Rama III. To hide the final delivery to Bandar Abbas, the ship spoofed its tracking data to make it appear it was anchored off Oman. Satellite imagery proved it was actually in Iran. The gear ultimately went to the heavily sanctioned Saman Industrial Group, the research and development arm of the IRGC missile program. The last major activity observed at the RSF camp in south-eastern Libya 🇱🇾 was in early April 2026. Technical vehicles and equipment then gradually began to disappear. The camp now appears to be far less active, suggesting that RSF troops may have moved into Sudan 🇸🇩.
