Our AI Personality of the Month is @savvyRL.
Rosanne is the Co-founder and Executive Director of @ml_collective, a non-profit pushing for open, accessible research training through collaboration and mentorship. She also splits her time between science and leadership at @GoogleDeepMind.
Before DeepMind, she helped launch @UberAILabs as one of its 15 founding members and the only woman on the team. Her research spans @NeurIPSConf, @iclr_conf, @icmlconf, @Nature and other major venues, with coverage in WIRED, MIT Tech Review, and Fortune.
Rosanne earned her PhD in Computer Science at @NorthwesternU, where she applied neural networks to discover new materials and improve hybrid-vehicle fuel efficiency.
Beyond her technical work, she has built strong communities for underrepresented researchers—organizing symposiums, workshops, and leading the long-running reading group Deep Learning: Classics and Trends. She has also served as the DEI chair for ICLR (2022–2024) and NeurIPS 2023.
Right now, she’s focused on pushing AI research to be more inclusive, more equitable, and more widely accessible, while advancing work on training dynamics, model capacity, and scaling.
Rosanne’s mission is simple but bold: make the science of neural networks clearer, and make the field a better place for everyone who wants to build the future.

Nigeria is home to over 500 languages, yet beneath this diversity lie fascinating connections.
Today we spotlight this word Baba, meaning father in Yoruba and Hausa, showing cross-language borrowing
Exploring this relationship isn’t just linguistic curiosity, it’s understanding how tribes connect, how culture travels, and how identity is preserved through words.
We use these insights to build AI that understands Nigerian languages in context, respecting both diversity and interconnection.

Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) consist of multiple autonomous agents interacting within a shared environment to achieve individual or collective goals. These agents operate independently, make decisions, and act without centralized control, enabling flexibility and robustness. Interaction involves cooperation, competition, or both, depending on the system design.
MAS has diverse applications, including robotics (coordinating teams for search-and-rescue or warehouse tasks), traffic management (optimizing flow with smart vehicles/signals), smart grids (managing energy distribution), healthcare (epidemic modeling, patient care), gaming (simulating intelligent behaviors), and e-commerce (supply chain optimization).
Its decentralized nature enhances scalability, adaptability, and robustness, allowing agents to specialize in handling complex problems. However, challenges like coordination, communication, scalability, security, and design complexity remain. Despite this, MAS offers an effective approach for solving distributed problems across various domains.
