@ControlledPairs The only way I’ll do it is with a private server where we can make custom PvE missions like in Arma 3. Too frustrating otherwise.

@realburgergod @ControlledPairs Pairs is correct. There’s a legit argument that Israel’s means & methods would fail a legal analysis in terms of proportionality and distinction. But his post was saying that if that’s your argument, then make that actual argument. You can’t just point at CIVCAS & say war crime!

Can we stop calling civilian casualties and collateral damage "war crimes" ffs. Words matter. Targeting civilians is a war crime. Targeting civilian infrastructure is a war crime. When Ukraine shoots at Russian Military Targets, misses, and hits civilian infrastructure, it's collateral damage. When Israel targets militant fighters, kills them and everyone around them, it's also collateral damage. It doesn't make it ok. It doesn't make it any less evil, but is not "indiscriminate targeting of a civilian population." You can argue that it is disproportionate. You can argue that the military objective doesn't justify the civilian toll. You can argue that insufficient effort was made to distinguish military targets from civilian bystanders. But that doesn't make it a war crime. Calling everything a "war crime," is like calling it all a "genocide," or anyone who doesn't share your world view "racist." It is dishonest and ambiguous language employed solely to frame an event in such a way as to score political points. Everything you say afterwards is suspect. MORE importantly, it obfuscates our ability to shun, shame, and prosecute actual war crimes, like the ones Wagner is so fond of publishing of summary executions.

Showcase of a new Planning Mode feature, stacking; When multiple units are selected by the Zeus while in Planning Mode, dragging a path arrow will synchronize those units paths with the arrow being dragged. When the path is executed the units will move in a file. #Arma3

@ControlledPairs My deployments were key developmental experiences in terms of how I understand morality, service, the impact of war and our role in it, fear, courage, success, failure, guilt/responsibility, and gratitude. I very much hate the results, but would never give up that experience.

@ControlledPairs In the end, I’ve settled on this: I know that, in an objective sense, our toil was for—and my men’s & buddies’ lives were lost for—nothing. It does bother me greatly. But I simultaneously value the experience/lessons, & am grateful for the opportunity to fight & lead in combat.

@ControlledPairs I’m okay with the scenario, but I support them making it optional. As a parent, I can absolutely understand and relate to the nuanced emotions associated with this issue which impacting safety in schools. I’m a 2A supporter, but it’s a sensitive issue no matter where you stand.

@UselessFodder My old BDE XO gave me a copy with a note in it as a parting gift because Johnny Rico & I were both “enlisted to OCS pukes” lol.

@ControlledPairs I’m glad you agree. I thought I was the only one 😂. I did a TikTok vid about how preposterous the aiming and shooting mechanics are—and got so, so much vitriol in the comments.

@ControlledPairs @Militarydotcom It seems, anecdotally, many (most?) young Americans don’t feel the connection to America that we had. We grew up w/ WWII hero worship & Am. exceptionalism, but they’ve had very diff. msging. Many are outright fed up w/ all institutions and don’t see a reason to support the USG.

.@Militarydotcom on why men won't join the Army: "Critics have argued that the problem is tied to changes in military policy, including nonspecific claims that the military has become "woke." But experts described broader issues with men becoming less engaged in American society and less likely to enroll and graduate from college, more likely to die by suicide or drug overdose, and slowly disappearing from the general workforce. The sharp drop in the mid-2010s of men's participation in the workforce, education and military service is part of what some experts call a national "crisis of masculinity" with complex causes. "[This] goes way beyond military recruitment," Ronald Levant, professor of psychology at the University of Akron and former president of the American Psychological Association, told Military.com. "It really has to do with social change. I think there is a motivational syndrome that seems to permeate a lot of young men today. They're just not motivated to do very much."" I don't know why men don't want to join the military. (I do know why the X echo chamber won't lol). I have, however, like the author, observed a trend whereby men seem to struggle more now than they did when I was becoming a man with depression, apathy, lack of motivation, absent sense of adventure and wanderlust, diminished ambition, waning personal pride, and failing personal courage. It's as though the will to live well is failing. I don't have a solution. Maybe there is no problem. military.com/daily-news/202…

@tactigray Live can get eyeballs, but in terms of direct monetization, it’s not great for gaming. Conversely, a good 1-minute TT video that gets lots of views can have an excellent ROI for the time you put in.

A mind snapshot from a very bad day in a time gone by. Today we remember multitudes who have sacrificed everything far from home. It’s only by luck or grace that I am still able to enjoy a life with my family when so many of my friends & comrades cannot. Thank you, gentlemen 🫡
