Faramir in Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings books is a character of remarkable nobility and wisdom, a shining example of moral strength. Unlike his brother Boromir, who succumbs to the allure of the One Ring, Faramir resists temptation entirely, demonstrating self-discipline and insight beyond his years. He values honor, duty, and the well-being of Gondor over personal glory. Faramir’s restraint and integrity not only contrast with Boromir’s impulsiveness but also highlight the moral depth of Tolkien’s world. Even in the face of his father Denethor’s favoritism toward Boromir, Faramir remains steadfast, displaying patience, humility, and a quiet heroism that earns him true respect. In Peter Jackson’s film adaptations, however, Faramir is portrayed much less favorably. He is depicted as tempted by the Ring, considering taking it to Gondor despite knowing its danger. This deviation undermines his moral superiority, making him appear weak, conflicted, and willing to risk Frodo and Sam’s lives. The films turn a paragon of virtue into a flawed, almost morally compromised character, stripping away the very qualities that make Faramir exceptional in the books.

🇩🇰 A reporter asks filmmaker Nikolaj Arcel, "Why is your new Danish movie "The Promised Land" entirely Nordic? ... it lacks the black people, it lacks diversity. Mads Mikkelsen ~ 'What??... right from the get-go". 😆 Arcel: "Hmmm, well first of all, the film takes place in Denmark in the 1750s" — you f"ing retard" 🤣

@QuoteNietzsche @FNSociety Philosophy, art, and culture existed long before Nietzsche. Sure, others have been influenced by his ideas but he hasn't "shaped" these things. Ultimately his worldview proposes nothing has purpose. I mean, if you consider that the universe is just the result of an accident.

What does “National Socialism” mean? Ideological training document for SS recruits defines Nationalism and Socialism, clearly separating it from Marxist class-struggle socialism. “Nationalsozialismus” can be roughly translated as “völkischer Gemeinschaftsgedanke” (folkish community thinking) or, to put it even more simply: “National Socialism is the worldview that places the community of the Volk above all else.” __________________________________ 🔺What does “National Socialism” mean? "Let us therefore look once more precisely at the word “Nationalsozialismus” itself. It consists obviously of two main words: “national” and “sozialismus” (socialism). Let us try to translate these two words into understandable German words. An old saying goes: “The simplest word is always the first.” Let us therefore look first at the word “sozialismus.” This ending “-ismus” is used in many cases. This ending already sounds somewhat suspicious to many ears. Examples: Communism, Materialism, Optimism, Pessimism, Liberalism, etc. Often it is a designation for a worldview or philosophy that has been studied and is supposed to characterize a worldview. But isn’t it striking that we should also use such an ending for National Socialism? No! Let us make this meaningful ending clear to ourselves: it should not mean anything other than “weltanschauung” (worldview). That makes the word not half as difficult. The word “sozial” / “social” – what does it mean? It is not the same as “socialist.” We also know the word “sozial” from the comrade on the motorcycle, the social companion – so “social” also means: thinking in a communal way, thinking in terms of community. To think socially therefore means to think for the benefit of the community, the whole. A social measure is therefore not one that serves the individual, but the community, the whole. A socialist is therefore a person who does not live first and foremost for his own ego and his own benefit, but for whom all things in life revolve around the community above all else. (Opposite: individualism, egoism; Latin: Individuum = single being.) There are, of course, communities of various kinds and in large numbers in life – for example the room community, the group, the squad, the company, etc. In sports and other areas there are communities. There are professional communities, political communities, religious communities, and so on. Communities to which one belongs voluntarily, and those into which one is born and cannot escape. The smallest such community, into which one is born and grows up, is the family. The greatest community is the Volk. It is quite obvious that our worldview is directed toward this community. It is not socialism in the sense of the class struggle or the class-based exploitation of the propertyless by the propertied, or the “socialism” of that Jewish Karl Marx (see class-struggle thinking). Rather, socialism in the National Socialist sense places the Volk at the center of all thought processes and unites völkisch (folkish/national) and natural thinking inseparably. The Führer once said: “We know that the highest Nationalism and the highest Socialism are the same. They are: highest service to the Volk, highest love for the Volk, highest devotion to the Volk – struggle for a Volk, not for a class and not for a stand.” With this the apparently so difficult word “Nationalsozialismus” / “National Socialism” should become clear in its true meaning. “Nationalsozialismus” can be roughly translated as “völkischer Gemeinschaftsgedanke” (folkish community thinking) or, to put it even more simply: “National Socialism is the worldview that places the community of the Volk above all else.”In a few words much has been said. Of course, this does not mean that everything is now explained. It is clear that with this we have not yet spoken of the race principle, nor of the leadership principle, nor of the Führer principle. But all these insights and demands are necessary. They all serve one single goal: to serve the community of the Volk, to shape and perfect it according to this two-sided meaning. Our formulation does not exhaust the concept of National Socialism.” This one thought must stand at the forefront of all considerations: everything else comes after it. If one then reads the book of the Führer, one will find this fundamental idea confirmed on every page. If one studies this thought as the basic idea, one will be able to see that every one of the 25 demands has been tested against it. The program itself has the formula with thick print in point 24: “Gemeinnutz geht vor Eigennutz” (Common good before individual good) (Point 24). One must consciously hold this thought before one’s eyes as the guiding principle of all National Socialist action. The benefit to the nation, the interest of the nation in its economic, political, or cultural life, whether it is a matter of art or science, of the nourishment of our cultural life, of the preservation or expansion of our legal system, of foreign policy, or of any other concern of the Volk—all of these are always subordinated to the highest interest of the Volk. It is not necessary to memorize all 25 points word for word; rather, it is sufficient to have made the basic idea of the program clear to oneself and to have internalized it as the guiding principle. The realization that intellect alone is not enough, that spiritual effort alone is not decisive, is the decisive thing: whether life and livelihood, the life and livelihood of the individual or of the community of the Volk, are placed by the National Socialist above all else. “There is nothing that stands above the Volk!” This is the concise form in which the National Socialist worldview can be summarized: everything in the life of every true National Socialist must stand under this sentence. In every decision in life, before we act, we must ask ourselves: “What does our Volk want, what does the German Volk need, what does the will of the Volk demand?” The question of whether we want to create something for the Volk must always be the first thought and the highest goal. The question “What does the Volk need?” must always be placed at the center of all considerations in the Party as well. Only through constant self-education, through daily work on oneself, can one achieve the necessary clarity and maturity, so that one does not harm the community of the Volk through one’s own desires and interests. It is no private matter, even if I harm my body through alcohol or other harmful things. Not only for the Volk alone, so that I perhaps do not become a sick person who falls out at the last moment; rather, the Volk community itself has a right to my body. It is also no private matter whether I marry or have children or not. Whoever truly wants to be a National Socialist must be clear that he is obligated to the Volk community, that he is responsible for it, and that this obligation extends to the preservation and improvement of this community. Whoever in these matters only wants to pursue his own personal happiness and believes that National Socialism is only a personal matter of belief, we must ask ourselves again and again: Do we belong to a German Volk or not? If we want to hold fast to National Socialism in any way, then we must also stand by this most sacred law of the Volk community, even if it demands personal sacrifice. This demand “You are nothing, your Volk is everything!” strikes the National Socialist in the heart. It is the most difficult demand, but also the clearest. We can make it even more understandable: the individual ego must step back. We can no longer live for ourselves alone, nor can we place our own well-being above that of the Volk. It is the entire Volk that counts. This is why the demand is not only made during the war, but is the fundamental National Socialist demand in peacetime as well. The individual ego must step behind the community of the Volk, especially in the National Socialist worldview. The life for Germany, the life in National Socialist community, must be lived with conscious awareness. The life for the fatherland must be placed in the center of one’s own life. This war has shown us in the hardest way what it means to live for the community of the Volk. This war has shown that the individual, the single man, must be ready to sacrifice everything, even the last breath, for the Volk, so that the Volk may live. “You are nothing, your Volk is everything!” This sentence must stand above every National Socialist’s life. It is the highest law. It is the most sacred demand. Whoever truly grasps National Socialism will never again place his own ego, his own desires, his own well-being above the community of the Volk. He will live and act in such a way that he serves this community, even if it demands the greatest sacrifices from him." _________________________________ Source: Weltanschauliche Erziehung.- Schulungsunterlagen, BArch RS 3-10/1, Pgs 83-89 invenio.bundesarchiv.de/invenio/direkt…
