@MyNameIsMurray It's not been a good time has it. Not sure how much more needed to break this dependency so many of us have on it. I know we are not there yet, but Microsoft should be getting very worried. If the AI stuff really does take off they are target to get rid of productivity app costs

Time to rename this to Microslop 265, perhaps? So many incidents and issues this last 12 months. Also a number of pretty annoying outages. And they have the audacity to demand premium pricing for this, with even more premium suites/plans on top to get basic functionality. 🤮

@techspence The risk is idiocracy. Not sure whether social studies have actually been performed on social media making us dumber, my gut says it does. AI is a potential massive accelerator potential for this. The risk is there will have been 1 or 2 generations that understand computers.

Conversation I see on X: so long pentesters, AI is taking your job! Conversations I have with clients: The password Winter2025! was valid for a user. We got in through vpn (no mfa). We kerberoasted the built-in admin account and cracked the hash. The password was badass1983!. Oh and your DCs are on the internet, did you know that? The internet, as amazing as it is, is very much an echo chamber. If you’re an IT admin or IT/Security leader it’s paramount that you talk to people in the trenches, preferably somewhere other than social media.

We need to have a talk. Some of you send me e-mails, or DMs, calling me "a cat". You say, "stinky cat", or "dumb cat", or "I know you're a cat". What the fuck kind of psyop is this? It's not just one person, it's actually a lot of people. I'm a human being, goddammit

@vxunderground Please forgive my ignorance on this matter but how would you age verify a corporate server multiple user OS? Who is the responsible person?

Chat, all hell has broken loose in the Linux community. Linux nerds are discussing how they'd implement age verification at the OS level (if need be to comply with laws). Linux nerds are having a psychiatric meltdown. The nerds are revolting.

Heads-up! I just learned about a limited-time offer where you can purchase my Enterprise #PKI #Certificates with Intune masterclass and receive a FREE on-year all access pass for @viamonstra as well. That's an incredible value. Take advantage now! #msintune academy.viamonstra.com/courses/master…
Richard Hicks@richardhicks

Using the #Microsoft Intune Certificate Connector to issue and manage on-premises certificates? You have a privilege escalation attack vector you may not know about (and it's by design 😬). Using NDES with Intune SCEP profiles? Most online guidance for configuring this crucial workload is incomplete, incorrect, and, in some cases, suggests insecure settings. Learn to mitigate these risks and more by attending my Enterprise #PKI #Certificates and Intune Masterclass, live and online, @viamonstra March 10-12, 2026. Register now! richardhicks.com/masterclass #mobility #mdm #msintune #cloudpki

@TracketPacer Ooo I've been ogling those for a while. I miss my old palm sized link runner from the late 2000s that did DHCP, DNS as well as wire breaks. They cost so much now though.

@Daniel_Rubino I'd say they've got 12months to show progress on this pulling unwanted features/Ads and putting more effort into stability. Unlike previous times alternatives to windows on your laptop, desktop or server has never been better. Still costly but not so hard now for many workloads.

I’m curious how everyone else feels about this shift. How long are you giving Microsoft to see "real" change, and what does that even mean for you? Weekly Windows Wrap⤵️ windowscentral.com/microsoft/wind…

🪟Weekly Windows Wrap: Feb 1, 2026 This week’s Windows Wrap is up, and Microsoft losing 440 billion dollars in value seems to have snapped something into focus. Maybe? We’ve been saying for months that Windows 11 needed a reality check, and it finally feels like the company is reading the room instead of trying to force features people clearly weren’t asking for. It’s wild that it took this long, and we’re still nowhere near getting anything resolved.

Following heavy push back, Microsoft has decided to re-evaluate it's AI strategy While they don't intend on fully removing AI, Microsoft allegedly intends on placing AI "where it makes sense". What does this mean? Find out next time on Dragon Ball Z windowscentral.com/microsoft/wind…

Yesterday NATO StratCOM released their assessment on "Social Media Manipulation for Sale". Since 2019 NATO StratCOM has been performing Red Team assessments on the largest social media networks. They're trying to assess how resistant they are to external influence. In summary, NATO gives nerds money to go to sketchy websites and pay for people to artificially inflate their viewership. Once they begin receiving fake views, comments, likes, etc. They monitor the accounts over the time span of several weeks, months, or years. NATO StratCOM monitors: - What the accounts are boosting - Who they're boosting - When they're boosting - When the fake accounts were created - How long the accounts are active - How long it takes for social media sites to take action Additionally, because a lot of these boosting services accept Bitcoin, they track the money. I'll link the paper in the subsequent post. It is incredibly interesting. What is more interesting however is that on X they noticed right-leaning content is heavily amplified by botnet farms. Conversely, on BlueSky left-leaning content is heavily amplified by botnet farms. Additionally, in 2025 a significant spike occurred whereas pro-Chinese content on X was manipulated and artificially boosted. The botnets specifically aimed to boost anything which paints China as having superior technology or military capability.
