@durov Finality is just a made up window by peers and exchanges. Bitcoin finality is exactly 0s if you accept a transaction before it was confirmed - and if the fee is high and RBF is off, why not? Then we have lightning too, but let's not complicate it

@thekitze @jackfriks So true. If you want the best of the best, buy a XG27UCDMG OLED. Otherwise just buy a decent VA monitor. IPS is overrated, VA has better contrast and viewing angle doesn't matter since you'll be looking from the same angle always.

/r/mildlyinteresting In Portugal you pay up to €7.50 when you buy a laptop called a "copyright levy" You pay €4/TB of storage in the computer, so for a MacBook Neo 13" with 512GB that's €2.05 It's regulation made in 1998 to compensate artists for you illegally sharing MP3 files which nowadays of course doesn't make sense anymore since we have Spotify and YouTube Much of the money doesn't even arrive with artists btw, 30% is taken by the organization collecting the tax and lot of it remains unclaimed and some of that goes again to the organization collecting the tax as "operational costs" 🤡

Hot take: Vercel and supabase are great for small projects But as soon as you get decent traffic you should self host to avoid crazy $$$ costs.

@brankopetric00 You can optimize docker reboots to the point you don't even need anything else. This imagerouter api container restarts in 2 seconds. See you Kubernetes at 1M users, but not before

Kubernetes was built to solve Google-scale problems. You are not Google. You're a SaaS with 300 customers. Docker Compose would've been fine.

People think the 2s downtime is the problem, but no: - it can delete the entire database (remember the guy who lost all his emails recently?) - it can leak keys - it can leak user data, catch passwords I don't give prod access to my human team, why would I give it to AI?

Google doesn't let you set the spending limit for Gemini API keys or for the entire account. The only reason not to do so, despite being one of the most important features, is to allow you to overspend by mistake. If your key becomes visible in your app's code by mistake and someone gets access to it, you might wake up to a $1,000,000 Google Cloud bill overnight.

3 fake abuse reports in 24 hours on my Hetzner server All SYN IP spoofed packages port scanning on port 22, which isn't me because it's just spoofing my IP Every day I have to reply to @Hetzner_Online now that it's not me, I can't port scan 22 outbound, because I have 22 outbound blocked on their firewall, if I don't reply within 24h my IP gets blocked! I guess I need to speak to someone at Hetzner internally to fix this because the internet has lots of ppl that get this issue If Hetzner can fix this, they'll be a great host for the future I think

Any way I can avoid my IP getting spoofed? Can hosting providers check if abuse reports are based on real or spoofed packages?

DataFast Goals now shows the custom parameters you send. If you track an "initiate_checkout" goal, you can pass "planType" as a custom parameter. In your dashboard, you'll now see how many people initiated a checkout, and which plan they chose.
