For those claiming that JD Vance's recent comments were not a smear against Milton Friedman, here's a reminder that he's had an adversarial fixation with Friedman for many years. Here's Vance in a deranged 2020 op-ed for the Claremont Institute:

@artvand7799 Entire American industries were wiped out and were not replaced by industries where the US was more productive. The Chinese took that production too. The CEO has no one send an email

@DailyStuck In other words, the US could probably make toasters better than any other country, but it's a better use of our time to do other things and leave the toasters to less productive countries.

@artvand7799 @PhilWMagness I was taught that even wirh an absolute advantage in one country, for say toasters, comparative advantage showed you could still make toasters in another country. What did you learn?

@yechielleiter @RoKhanna Fact check: Israel has no authority under international law to operate in the West Bank. Ro Khanna is not required to notify Israel his intent to travel to Palestinian territory. Israel is required to withdraw from the West Bank in compliance with international law.

Ambassador Yechiel (Michael) Leiter
Let's not lose our grip on the facts - instead of recriminations and accusations - just the facts. 1) Congressman @RoKhanna was offered to coordinate his visit with the State of Israel - this goes beyond notifying of his presence in the country. He was offered in-depth coordination of his schedule to avoid misunderstandings, and he chose to ignore that offer. He also chose not to coordinate his visit with the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem. 2) He chose to conduct his visit accompanied by Palestinian activists, and, for some reason, @nytimes journalists with cameras at the ready. With him was also a person affiliated with @jstreet, an organization that actively lobbies against the government of Israel on Capitol Hill. 3) Mr. Khanna and his entourage entered what was believed to be a closed military zone without permission. The military had no prior knowledge of him going there, due to his refusal to coordinate with them. The vehicle they stopped was unknown to them and therefore provoked suspicion. The moment details of the Congressman's identity were cleared, he was free to go. At no point was the congressman, or any member of his party, threatened by the soldiers, or civilians bearing arms. 4) To add insult to injury - the Congressman used this instance as an opportunity to tout "genocide" and "apartheid" libels to the press, propelling himself to the center of yet another anti-Israel media frenzy. The facts don't lie - this was a cheap, anticipated provocation, that could, and should have been avoided. 5) Calling me a liar won’t change the facts. I’d be happy to host Congressman Khanna at our embassy for an in-depth conversation on his grievances regarding Israel.

To be clear the issue is not that @RealCandaceO is a lying grifter sociopath. That’s hardly anything new to the world. The issue is that so many people listen to a lying grifter sociopath. That’s something that is much more rare- but everytime that happens in human history- it’s ALWAYS A terrible terrible thing.

It’s easy if you have standard load ammo you are familiar with and a rifle scope you know is still accurately zeroed. Instead we have anecdotal evidence the shot was subsonic (Harpole’s statement) and by the prosecution’s own theory, the rifle was hastily assembled after having been stuffed in a pant leg and stiff leg walked at least several hundred yards. It doesn’t take much to knock a scope off zero, even without a hasty reassembly. I don’t think Robinson and Twiggs are not involved, they are (likely with several others). However, the cumulative total of sus factors in the official narrative (several related to the 30-06 claim, but many more as welll) give me reasonable doubt (for now at least, we’ll see how trial goes) that Robinson is the designated patsy. I don’t mind he’s being tried, there is probable cause to proceed. But I find the Oswald/Dealey Plaza like mass “case closed” commentary a disturbing rush to judgment at this stage. Especially given the fed involvement who we know are capable of completely fabricating the basis for prosecutions. We literally just lived through about 8 years of their doing so against Trunp. And its not like there was any love lost by Utah governor for Kirk either let’s remember. The government has the burden of proof (as they should). From what I’ve seen so far, I see a lot holes in the theory of the case. Just seeing how the debate online is going, I predict Robinson is going to be found suicided in his cell a la Epstein, and none of the defense challenges to the evidence will ever get made in court before a jury. The narrative will be that it was all “proven” at the preliminary hearing. It has not been, and by legal definition cannot be beyond a reasonable doubt standard. But that will be the story. Hope I’m wrong.

Before the evidence was introduced, my initial guess is that he used "grandpa ammo." My grandpa had a similar 30-06 bolt action, one box of bullets, I remember it strikingly. Typical midwestern white kid stuff.

Well, generally in my vernacular it just meant old ammo. I just wanted to make sure I was tracking what your intended meaning was. But again if the implication is the old ammo created a subsonic or at least significantly degraded velocity, it creates real problems for the ballistic flight. Especially on a single scoped shot from an unfamiliar perch, an estimated range and at a downward angle. I don't claim to "know" what happened, but I do find a lot of reasons to doubt the narrative we are being told is what happened.

How about guaranteed catastrophic insurance ; give option for rest of us to pay out of pocket for everyday care. Educate and be real about how much $ is spent in last few months of heroism for the elderly. Harmful for the patient too. No one seriously sick should have to negotiate over insurance-just whether the treatment makes sense or not.

Today, I shared with the OpenAI team that I have decided to leave my full-time role at OpenAI and transition to being a part-time advisor. Three months ago, I had to go on medical leave after a severe exacerbation of a chronic illness I’ve lived with for seven years. During that time, it became clear that the road to recovery would be much longer and more complex than I had anticipated—and that I needed to focus on it fully. When I went on leave, many people told me I was courageous for prioritizing my health. The truth is that I am only making this decision now because I failed to make it many times before. Over the years, doctors, friends, colleagues, and loved ones encouraged me to slow down. Two years after I got sick, Facebook offered me the opportunity to take a full year of medical leave. I didn’t even pause to consider it. I immediately said no. At the time, Zuck told me I should play the long game. I wish I had listened. Looking back, I realize that a lot of what made me successful also made this decision incredibly difficult. I grew up believing that opportunities were precious and that when they appeared, you grabbed them with both hands. That mindset carried me from a small town in southern France to opportunities I never could have imagined. By the time I turned 40, I had already gotten to do more than I’d ever dreamed possible as a kid growing up in Sète. I love building. My work has always given me a deep sense of purpose. OpenAI in particular felt like a role that my entire career had been building toward, which made this decision even harder. But what I’m learning now is that grit and endurance are not the only skills required to have impact over decades. Sometimes the harder thing is to stop, listen, and trust that taking care of yourself today makes it possible to contribute for much longer tomorrow. This experience has also strengthened my conviction about why this work matters. It has been a jarring experience to spend my days helping build the future while simultaneously navigating a disabling disease that still has no cure. Over the last seven years, I’ve spent countless hours in doctors’ offices, dealing with symptoms, treatments, insurance, uncertainty, and all the invisible work that comes with being a patient. Like millions of others living with chronic illness, I’ve experienced firsthand how difficult healthcare can be to navigate, even when you have every possible advantage. More than ever, I believe that some of the most important opportunities for AI lie in helping people solve real problems in their daily lives: their health, their finances, their time and the everyday burdens that shape human experience. In particular, curing disease is the most important thing AI could accomplish. I’m excited to continue working towards cures through OpenAI but also through my work with @ChronicleBioAI and @CODA_research. I’m deeply grateful to @sama, @gdb and the OpenAI board for their support during this time and for offering a way for me to continue contributing to the mission without sacrificing my chances of recovery. I’m also so thankful to my team and the many extraordinary colleagues I’ve had the privilege to build alongside. For now, my focus is recovery. But my belief in the potential of technology to solve deeply human problems has never been stronger.

@JonathanTurley interesting insight if ANY of those messages were authentic and real, but they're not... lololol everyone can tell at a glance that those 'conversations' are at best staged, possibly completely contrived as a graphic to display on another device, in a photo, as has been done.
