The louder the seething gets, the more convinced I become that Joseph Smith was exactly who he said he was.
People don’t spend nearly 200 years obsessing over a “fraud” unless he changed the world in a way they still can’t explain away.
A farm boy prays once in the woods and generations later people are still writing books, making podcasts, building channels, and raging online trying to undo what came from it.
And through all of it, the Book of Mormon just keeps changing lives.
Bad men don’t produce good fruit for this long.

While Joseph Smith was actively engaging in polygamy, the LDS scriptures being published stated "anyone saying we do polygamy is a liar"
And Joseph Smith said the same publicly just weeks before he died?
It's one thing to hide a practice, but calling people liars for saying you do it?

It’s been fun taking this polygamy detour today, but in the end, it’s really not that difficult. Polygamy leaves the Mormons in an unsolvable double bind. Months before he was killed in 1844, Joseph Smith approved the publication of the 2nd edition of the church’s Doctrine and Covenants. That document codified the church’s position on marriage. Either Joseph was a despicable liar who was engaging in marriages denounced by the standard works bearing his name, or he was following the teachings he published and his name and reputation have been irreparably harmed by despicable liars. It’s a lose/lose. Sorry, losers.
