It's only Tuesday and this week has already been filled with "Oh hey, we have a meeting in ten minutes that you didn't know about. Drop everything and sit with us for the next 2 hours" type shit. How am I supposed to get any real work done?

@dhh so as debian slowly degrades over the next 5 years, what's the new always reliable and extremely stable distro to run on my servers?

I agree that I'd rather have flat out, pedal to the metal racing and I don't particularly like the fuel saving happening in NASCAR either. That doesn't make it a bad series. NASCAR's equivalent to "make" is the teams behind the cars. Can't compare it directly to F1 or other racing series and say it's bad because the cars look the same. Indycars look the same too, but you're not making that argument there.

@DalebotX @bitcoinjack @F1 Make is extremely important, just like any other motor sport. They all have their fans and haters; it adds to the excitement. Please don't tell me about strategy; fuel-saving races are the most boring racing ever.

@MikeZybisco @bitcoinjack @F1 Cars looking alike should not be a major deterrent to a proper racing fan. It's a spec series which means it's all on the drivers to make the difference and win the race. Strategy is also huge in NASCAR. There's way more going on that meets the eye.

@DalebotX @bitcoinjack @F1 I personally wouldn't include NASCAR. The cars all look alike, and the racing, for the most part, is boring. And the present crop of drivers has absolutely no personality whatsoever, all corporate clones.

@horsepower amazing how it only takes a single snowflake, too. road could be totally dry but one snowflake in the air makes people drive like they're 95 years old

@davepl1968 @RonaAmbrose You'd be surprised at how difficult it is to get our government to think forwards rather than in reverse

@RonaAmbrose Adult women aren't allowed pepper spray in Canada? Do you have to wear a numbered Burqa? Or is it the spicy peppers? Best keep those in the kitchen where the women are, I guess! What a country. Who are you protecting from whom?

@NikTek In my experience AMD software has always been bad. Even when the Ryzen CPUs came out and they introduced Ryzen Master Utility, it was (and to my knowledge still is) horrible. Lagged like crazy

Unfortunately even flipping switches means you didn't "personally build" it, someone else built and designed the hardware. Get some sand and manufacture ICs yourself, assemble them into a computer, making everything yourself, and only then can you say you did it yourself
Dave W Plummer@davepl1968

If you used a compiler, you did not, in fact, "personally build" it. Heck, if you used an assembler, you're benefiting from the labor of the assembler author. Get busy flipping switches!

I'm pretty stupid so correct me if I'm wrong on this one, but in a democracy, the people vote for their leaders and representatives. Is that right? Is there something I'm missing?

The floor crossing is excessive for a government that is less than a year old in a minority parliament. Serious commentators and analysts might want to turn their attention to the longer term implications of seizing a majority this way and what it does for trust in politicians.
