@JamesSurowiecki “Anti-democratic device” is the literal point, dumbass. The founders were well aware of what happens to all pure democracies. It forces the Executive branch to represent all Americans, not just those in LA, NYC, and Chicago.

There's no good civic argument for the electoral college. It was arguably necessary to ensure the ratification of the Constitution, but it's an anti-democratic device that gives some American citizens far more voting power than others, based purely on where they live.

This is where @SecWar requires that this commander and her entire chain of command appear before him at 0800 this Friday to explain, in detail, why they have failed to follow his intent in this matter and how they intend to remedy their failure. Every form of engagement or compromise with the Islamic Republic is strongly opposed by ordinary Iranians. We are determined to complete the uprising we launched in January. Any support the international community — above all the United States — can offer is deeply appreciated. For nearly five decades we have suffered relentless torture, sexual violence, executions, degradation, and sorrow at the hands of this tyranny.
