@DanAlroyPhilo @steipete @davemorin Prices are online, DB10 (any, asus ascent or 4tb nvidia spark + crs804 and crs812 + cables). This cluster is also for training.
2x DB10 (directly connected - no switch) will get you QWEN3.5 397B with 16-18 tok/s
English

woke up and my mentions are full of these
Both me and @davemorin tried to talk sense into Anthropic, best we managed was delaying this for a week.
Funny how timings match up, first they copy some popular features into their closed harness, then they lock out open source.

@steipete @davemorin This is how I have been preparing for this moment. 8x DB10 cluster. Running Qwen3.5 397B and other models locally.

Joe Rogan selling out to Spotify was terrible
This is even more confusing 🫤

TBPN has been acquired by OpenAI The world is changing quickly but TBPN will stay the same. Live every weekday just with a lot more resources. Thank you to everyone that has been a part of this journey big or small. We are 17 months in and unironically just getting started.

@dblumenfeld @Ricburton Jony Ive's company ("io") hadn't produced a single thing though, and no one heard of the brand until the sale. This is entirely different
English

@Ricburton It makes more sense if you think of this as them getting the hosts to help them with their comms/marketing strategy. Kinda like when they acquired John Ives company to mainly get John to help with their hardware strategy.

.@garrytan says he's telling former technical CEOs to step out of manager mode and get back to building:
"My output in terms of real products—not just lines of code—is 90x that of what it was in 2013."
"I was talking with a bunch of former-very technical CEOs who now are in full manager-mode. I was like—good news, it's time to come back."
"You can still be the manager during the day—but by night, you can be SpiderMan or Batman. You can don the suit, sacrifice a little sleep, and pull out the GStack."

@tszzl lol i use it all the fucking time. i appreciate the reply.

protip, if you're struggling to get traction on this site: the best way to get engagement on this app is to have a much larger account accuse you of ai writing in the replies. 100% of the time it works every time.

the failure mode here is obvious.. you take chatgpt + codex + browsing + agents + workflows… & instead of one system, you get a menu of powers that's actually harder to use. worst case scenario is you end up building a cockpit.
very intrigued to see the execution here & the fact that they are being so public about combining different products is also super interesting.
i can't imagine the cognitive load the team will have to go through to really combine all of these into one cohesive, simple, & accessible experience for *both consumers & enterprises* at scale. talk about a monumental challenge, although the openai team is extremely talented.

@braelyn_ai How is it a clean room if the agent has access to the original source code?
English

you probably dont fully understand how serious this Claude Code leak is
> code copyright law has been stable since the 80s
> you cannot legally copy or fork someone's code without permission (licenses)
the caveat is a "clean room" build - start from scratch by people who have never seen the code. it takes too long to build a product from scratch, so it wasn't usually a problem
> enter codegen
> anyone with a Claude Max plan can "clean room" rebuild any repo just by pointing the agent at the tests
> a few months ago, opensource repos started close-sourcing their tests
> a codegen rebuild has never been challenged in court > the legal precedent would have the potential to decimate the concept of Open Source forever
SO
> last night
> claude code leaks
> Sigrid Jin "clean room" rebuilds claude code in Python
> names it Claw-Code
> Reminder: Anthropic sued the last open source tool that used a funny "claw" name
Now?
> Anthropic has the potential to sue this project and put all of software licensing and copyright law into question
> Anthropic might allow corporate greed to effectively put an end to opensource software
> Anthropic's corporate greed might forever kill the software community as we know it today
...
now that you know how serious it could be, the best thing we can do is pressure anthropic to let it go

@SHistorians @dieworkwear site doesn't list the material - what are the cardigans made from?
English

@dieworkwear @Coach_Mackay_ Well we disagree then. Classic cardigan with an original vintage felt St Andrews Patch.

is there anything fb hasn't copied from elon?
almost all of the things elon did at x were controversial when they were first implemented, & now they’re the norm.
e.g. paid verification, premium subscription to social networks, even threads, etc.

I guess he makes too many tracks. A lot of the names feel like WIP stuff you do when you don't have a name yet. His song names have never made much sense, even before they got all technical. Why "Windowlicker"?
The stuff in brackets reference technical details - mastering volumes ("+3"), equipment ("CIRKLON"), or BPM [102.5].
dyl@speckvoices
why does Aphex Twin need to name every track some shit like xCeiolantheis[13+7 mN8] it's actually kind of annoying
English

@_enterthevoid8_ @speckvoices is this an april fool's joke? the stuff in brackets do not stand for colors and sounds, they are references to the equipment he used, where the recording or mixing took place, and mastering adjustments he made
English

@speckvoices Synethesia, I don’t know what type he has but those letters and numbers stand for colors/sounds/etc
