Dozens were killed during protests in Kenya earlier this summer, with the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights accusing police of using excessive force and live rounds on mostly peaceful protesters. I asked Kenya’s President @WilliamsRuto about this – see his response.

Contrary to the misreporting by @citizentvkenya , we did not leave the venue because we were "chased." We departed because the presiding Bishop and Seme MP James Nyikal had already left to proceed with the burial of his father. Our sole purpose for attending was to offer our condolences and stand in solidarity with the family. Remaining unbowed, we left the service and arrived safely at the airport to return to Nairobi. This travel is in preparation for the EALASCA Festival, which are scheduled to kick off in Mombasa on Monday, May 4th, 2026. I am proud to confirm that Siaya County will be participating in the upcoming events and I will be joining them as the Patron of KICOSCA. While at the airport, we enjoyed a warm reception and spent time engaging with the locals before boarding. The people of Kisumu are WANTAM, a spirit of hospitality and excellence that was clearly on display throughout the past weekend. facebook.com/share/r/1EDEzS…

The doctor collapses in court and from then on his health takes a turn and he dies weeks later. One day, we will implement the doctrine of command responsibility and individual responsibility in this country and everyone will be held to account personally for their actions.

I remember begging the officers to allow us to make Dr. Obwaka comfortable because he was in poor health. We were passed from one person to another, with no clear response (The Investigating Officers and the In-charge). Dr. Obwaka had shared that he had previously undergone heart surgery. When we had no other option, we called emergency medical services and requested an ambulance. Only then did they allow him to receive medical care. Imagine receiving medical attention in the parking area of the Judiciary at Milimani Law Courts. Dr. Obwaka had been unlawfully arrested from his clinic and charged on what were fictitious claims, which were later dismissed. Daktari rage in the light, and don’t let those who pushed your to poor health rest.! #RiPDrObwaka

It is with deep sorrow that I have learnt of the passing of Dr. Job Obwaka, a renowned Obstetrician-Gynaecologist and Board Director at the Nairobi Hospital. To the family of Dr. Obwaka, I extend my heartfelt condolences at this difficult moment. I join you in mourning a man of great resolve, a just and principled son of our motherland, and an intellectual par excellence who devoted his life to saving human life and standing for truth. Dr. Obwaka will be remembered strongly not only for his professional excellence, but also for his courage in moments that demanded integrity and courage. He chose conviction and truth over convenience, and in doing so, affirmed the enduring value of moral leadership and integrity we so deserve as a country. His passing away reminds us, as a nation, of the legacy of those who stood firm in pursuit of justice and the common good. Dr. Obwaka will be remembered for leading his colleagues in resisting the hostile take-over of the Nairobi Hospital by the country’s chief grabber leading to his arrest and incarceration in police custody for days despite his plea that he was having health challenges and advanced age. He left police custody a broken man but stoic that there are Kenyans who cannot succumb to intimidation and police harassment. Though traumatized by the police brutality, he lived a few weeks to narrate his ordeal at the instigation of heartless and cruel grabbers of public and private property. May the Almighty God grant his family peace and comfort, and strengthen his colleagues in the medical profession during this difficult time. May the soul of Dr. Obwaka rest in eternal peace, and may perpetual light shine upon him forever.

I hope you all recall that Dr. Obwaka was arrested on Ruto’s orders. The old Dr. had a heart condition. Remember when he collapsed in court? Ruto's dark shadow of death at it again!

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Dr Job Obwaka, a veteran gynaecologist and respected medical leader who devoted his life to advancing healthcare and strengthening Kenya’s medical institutions. He was a man of principle and conviction who never compromised on his values, even in recent times when he faced immense pressure and intimidation, he remained steadfast, ultimately enduring arrest and emergency medical distress after refusing to compromise his principles. That courage defines his legacy. He will be remembered not only for the many lives he touched as a doctor, but also for the integrity and strength he upheld throughout his service. Kenya has lost a dedicated professional, a reformer, and a true patriot. On behalf of Wiper Patriotic Front, my family and myself, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all Kenyans who share in this loss.

Sakaja has denied Eric Omondi access to Uhuru Park ahead of the planned #TukoKadi concert on Sunday. Just like linda mwananchi rally in Kisumu, it is up to the people of Nairobi to decide whether the concert will proceed or not.

Harassment by the Government of Kenya, its interference with the management the Nairobi Hospital, and trumped up charges on the same definitely accelerated the deterioration of the health of Dr Job Obwaka and his untimely death. I am sad and annoyed.
