Thank you to the Lansing Chamber’s Educators Luncheon for having me yesterday. The conversation in that room is exactly why I’m running. A few years ago, Michigan was 19th in the country in third-grade reading. Now we’re 44th. Both parties have had their chance to fix it and both parties have failed. As Governor I’ll put $1.3 billion back into Michigan classrooms. More reading coaches. More tutoring. More support for teachers. Michigan’s kids deserve better.

Over the past two weeks, thousands of Teamsters nurses at nine hospitals and campuses in southeastern Michigan turned out to vote YES to authorize a strike at Corewell Health East. With nearly 90% voting to authorize a strike, it should be crystal clear to Corewell management that we are united to win the best possible collective bargaining agreement for 10,000 Teamsters nurses.
