Yesterday marked a deeply meaningful turning point in my life: my final day as a Protestant. After completing a year in RCIA, my children and I will be received into the Catholic Church this evening. The journey began through what felt like divine intervention, sparked by a thoughtful conversation with a wonderful priest at the Holy Well in Tara - an encounter that stayed with me and set so much in motion. I was introduced to him through my now Godmother, who recognised me in a shop from an interview I had just given. Truly, God works in mysterious ways. In many ways, it feels like a path that has been quietly forming for a long time. After more than two decades living in a Catholic country, with my children in Catholic schools and my own involvement in supporting the Catholic ethos in education, this step has grown naturally out of lived experience as much as personal reflection. Today - being baptised alongside my two children, and sharing the joy of my daughter’s First Holy Communion, makes this moment especially profound and deeply personal. Grateful for the journey, and for what lies ahead.

According to Sinn Féin first minister Michelle O’ Neill our society hates women…Really? That’s a serious accusation to level at your own people. So let’s start with a basic question: What is a woman? If you can’t define it, then what exactly do you mean by misogyny? And here’s another question— Would that same accusation be made as freely about newcomers to this country, particularly those from cultures with very different views on women? Or is it only ever directed at people here? This isn’t about denying misogyny exists…it does. But if you’re going to call it out, be clear, be consistent and be honest. Define “woman” and apply your standards equally. Then we can have a real conversation.

If it was not for Senior Counsel Una McGurk's brilliant expose that An Garda Siochana do not record statistics on ethnicity and nationality on PULSE, this issue would never have seen the light of day. Una McGurk was the first person to publicly highlight that the CSO do NOT publish statistics on immigration and crime because An Garda Siochana do not record statistics on ethnicity and nationality as a mandatory field. At a Press Conference to launch the Womens Coalition on Immigration in Dublin on 2nd December 2025, Una McGurk launched a public campaign to call on the Irish people to hold the Minister for Justice and the Garda Commissioner to account by demanding that there is an urgent review of the mandatory fields on PULSE, so that ethincity and nationality are recorded. As a result of Una McGurk's trojan work the government have been forced into a position of announcing that they intend to change the PULSE system to record ethnicity and nationality.

Last week, we had a Georgian "asylum seeker" in the Supreme Court, this week, the South African in the Court of Appeal where three judges had to sift through 100's of pages of affidavit, before deciding to reject the appeal. And the final joke, the Court will consider costs next!
