He is 32, his 5-year extension starts this summer, and he’s still the most error-prone player on the team. Being good at interviews doesn’t make the contract worth it.

If you’re gonna use your prime trade assets to bring in a winger, this club could be stuck without a true second line center for the foreseeable future, and that could be catastrophic.
Keep Hage and use anyone else(prospect or pick wise) to bring in a winger.

My take here has absolutely nothing to do with value, because Robertson is obviously worth it +, but if your the Habs, you absolutely can’t trade Hage unless a center is coming back. He’s the only hope within the organization for a 2C.

If Dallas wants to shed cap space and Montreal wants to take a step, could there be something built around: Montreal Acquires: • LW Jason Robertson (signs $12.5m x 7 years) Dallas Acquires: • C Michael Hage • D David Reinbacher • Montreal adds a true star to the lineup who gives them two elite 5v5 scoring lines. Similar to the Hossa acquisition by the 2009 Blackhawks. • Dallas gets a ton of cap space, a potential answer at RD long-term, and a top-tier prospect in Hage. Who says no?

The Hurricanes are frustrating because they're annoyingly good in almost every aspect of hockey.
I'd argue they've done a great job building a powerhouse franchise, and aren't remotely as dirty as most playoff teams.
A good team for MTL to emulate in the long term.
