UN mission finds the RSF showed genocidal intent in El Fasher, with ethnic massacres & sexual violence. Similar atrocities risk happening in other regions. As stated in the statement signed by 31 Ministers & myself, all parties must protect civilians, including humanitarians.

Reports that at least 75 civilians were killed by the RSF in a mosque in El Fasher in Sudan are extremely alarming. The EU calls again for an immediate halt to all fighting in the city as proposed by UNSCR 2736 and demands access for humanitarian aid into El Fasher.

#Sudan: Appalled by the Rapid Support Forces shelling of a hospital in El Fasher and the killing of civilians, including children and women, trying to escape the siege. The EU reiterates its call for the respect of international humanitarian and human rights law by all sides.

This man was an innocent civilian, simply trying to flee the besieged city of El Fasher. RSF fighters intercepted him and executed him in cold blood. Before killing him, they interrogated him about his tribe. When he answered truthfully that he was Berti—one of Darfur’s indigenous African tribes—they shot him point-blank, ignoring his desperate pleas for mercy. This is not an isolated act of violence. It is part of the RSF’s entrenched racist ideology, where indigenous peoples of Darfur are dehumanized, branded as “slaves,” and systematically targeted. Since 2003, the RSF and its Janjaweed predecessors have pursued a campaign of ethnic supremacy, considering themselves “Arab” and treating non-Arab communities as inferior and expendable. #KeepEyesOnSudan #GenocideinElfasher #KeepEyesOnDarfur @hrw @fidh_en @UNHumanRights

Shocked by the attack on El Fasher & Abu Shouk camp. Targeting civilians & places of refuge is a grave breach of IHL. Humanitarian access must be granted. I support @UNReliefChief & int. organizations Forum’s urgent calls. Looking ahead to discussions on #Sudan at #UNGA.

Horrified to learn of the killing of #AlJazeera journalists in Gaza, including reporter Anas Al Sharif. A direct hit on freedom of the press. Since Oct. 2023, at least 186 journalists have been killed. Civilians must be protected, access secured & the press safeguarded. Always.
