@Dank7719 It was definitely experimental and really more of a detective story with some shooter combat thrown in, but I appreciate the creative risk they took by making it. Plus, the soundtrack is phenomenal

In Halo's case, Reach worked because it was a prequel and relevant to the main story, ODST worked because it was a side-story, and even though I don't love them as much as the trilogy, they were still good games. It really just depends how you go about it. But post-Bungie Halo was explicitly a repudiation of what people loved about Halo in the first place.
Traveler@MilesTrav

@revenant_MMXX To be honest, so many series are this way. I begin to wonder if, generally, a trilogy is the longest a story world can remain coherent and true to purpose? There are exceptions, and many long running series that are good. But more often than not I find one-offs or trilogies win.

“Historians aren’t really sure what the Millennial Whoop sounded like. One description was that it sounded like a foxhunt yip mixed with a banshee squall. An old Millennial was invited to speak before a ladies’ society dinner, and they asked him to demonstrate the Millennial Whoop. He said he couldn’t do it sitting down — it had to be done at a run — and besides, he couldn’t do it with a mouth full of false teeth and a stomach full of food.”

@Pirat_Nation I switched from Chrome to Edge a couple years ago for reasons I don't even remember, but I haven't switched back yet because the user experience is basically the same. I even use Bing instead of Google. No functional difference.

Microsoft is desperate for people to use Edge and running the “Microsoft Rewards Total Prize Drop 2026” sweepstakes with a $2 million prize pool. The top prizes are: >Grand prize: $1,000,000 USD cash (one winner). >Three Mercedes-Benz cars (winners pick and configure a model up to roughly $100,000 USD value). >Thousands of instant-win prizes (things like Copilot+ PCs, ROG Xbox Ally handhelds, Dyson Airwrap stylers, and other tech/gadgets).

@SirHinksAlot @zerohedge How exactly does crippling Iran's oil industry destabilize the world economy and raise USD inflation?

@0xAlaric "Deconstructing" masculinity rather than merely "exploring" it reeks of motivated critique, and might simply be an inaccuracy of language by the commentator. Dramatizing the faults and virtues of manhood within the settings of Mad Men and The Sopranos is just plain old good TV.

The message being “masculinity exists solely as a performance; no one has ever actually had masculine virtues or emotional experiences.” People have spent so long in the media universe of “deconstructing masculinity” that they forget it actually exists, which was the goal.
Nuanced Film Takes@BadFilmTakes1

Mad Men and The Sopranos both treat masculinity as tenuous constructs of their respective cultures (the '60s in the former, the mob life in the latter). Breaking Bad treats masculinity as the end goal of character development, and that's part of the reason why it's a weaker show.

@WhigBiskey @0xAlaric I couldn't get through the first season. The writers were clearly overexcited by the novelty of saying "fuck" a lot on TV.

@0x49fa98 I tend to assume that positive traits cluster together. So an elite athlete is probably smarter than average anyway (controlling for SES, race, etc)

Yeah it was right wingers tagging my jobs twitter and demanding they fire me. It must be rwers posting my address too. Why don’t you guys grow a dick and say you did it out of political enmity instead of celebrating it but saying “well it was ACTUALLY the right!”
JoeI@whitefeelimgs

Howling Mutant would’ve kept his job if the right hadn’t amplified the doxx. He’s not famous. It wouldn’t have made the news. The few leftists still here don’t care that much. But seemingly every prominent RWer drew attention to it

AI finally lets us see Raphael's The School of Athens the way Raphael obviously intended it, illustrating the delicate dance and subtle conflicts between Plato and Artistotle. (Seedance 2.0 is very fun to play with)

I remain of the view that a ground invasion of Iran would be disastrous. However, it really does seem to me that we can pretty much raid Iran with very low strategic costs. A world where the US just has a constant 1,000 drones circling the shores of Hormuz to murk the site of any rocket launch seems possible, if not plausible.

@SaysSimulation The Euro RW (and Canadian, as we've seen with Carney's election) suffer when Trump engages in destructive PR that makes us look like unworthy rubes. Trump might even be correct in substance (as with this NATO topic), but the tone & messaging is repulsive to the EHC we sorely need

The European RW needs to really think about what it is doing. I was opposed to the Iran war. It happened anyway. As soon as that happened, I flipped to wanting the best outcome for America & the RW. Because the stakes are existential. If the US RW loses, a very long night 1/
eugyppius@eugyppius1

this one of the things that plantruster twitter will just never internalise, namely that Trump's Euro-baiting has two aspects. it's red meat for his core nativist base, but it's also a godsend for the leftoids and the Eurotards on this side of the Atlantic.
