idk who needs to hear this but swiatek's recent losses vs gauff are more an indicator of swiatek's wrongdoings and regression in the last 2 seasons than of gauff's actual improvements

Throwback to when THIS was the quarter-final lineup at the Rogers Cup in Montreal 😮💨🇨🇦 Andy Murray came out victorious, beating Juan Martín Del Potro in the final 🏆

Sometimes I feel almost personally targeted by the government. I own an EV, and they’ve decided to introduce a mileage tax to punish me for that. I run my blog as a sole trader; they are forcing much more onerous reporting through “make tax digital” which also means I have to pay for tax software. My eldest started secondary school in September; we put him in a fee paying school (a struggle on our income) and they cynically whacked an extra 20% tax on fees. Our savings won’t stretch as far now. They continue to run an inflationary policy, throwing money at the undeserving to buy their votes, which drags more of my income into the higher band and thus increase my taxes despite the promise not to. Now they threaten to ban X, which is both my major news source and an additional income which helps a bit in these strained times. I have done everything right. I got a good education, I worked hard, raised a family - and I feel as if I am being punished for it. Everything they do is almost calculated to make me miserable and my life harder.

🚨SHOCKING. Former Labour Blackburn MP Kate Hollern speaking about the ‘toxic’ general election campaign where she lost to Gaza thug Adnan Hussain MP. "At one point, I was told I was going to be beheaded. At another point, I was told I worshipped a false god. When someone tells you, 'You are going to be beheaded', and you see a picture of yourself on social media covered in blood, of course it worries you."🧵1/

I’ve received some questions about what we mean, in our National Security Strategy, when we invoke “civilizational” concerns. So I’m tweeting a relevant news item.

The most significant thing anyone in Britain can do for the people of Iran is struggle against sanctions & more widely against imperialist designs on Iran. The main enemy is at home.

So many tennis players with wrapped up limbs we are two weeks into the season
