@romfordgeeza Yes the government will be raking money in tax off private pension funds until at least 2029 as the tax rate won’t change until then so when people say the welfare bill costs X amount, the government will be taking back 20% minimum off anyone with a private pension

Given the state pension is £12,500 and the tax free allowance is almost exactly the same amount, surely anyone who has got a second pension or other income is automatically paying tax on it? What am I missing here?

Friend of mine is currently in Malaga, Spain. He just sent me on this... Diesel - €1.899 per litre Petrol - €1.529 per litre

Due to a lack of assistance by European NATO countries, the United States has decided to close some of its European bases and relocate… If the United Kingdom is one of those bases, we will be a sitting duck for any country to invade us. We have very limited defence capabilities because we’ve sent everything to Ukraine. We have no ships and a PM who is as much use as a chocolate kettle. We’re doomed…

@prwright55 @BarryWhyte85 Spain has always been cheaper than the UK, the gap is closing as they were still under €1 when we were £1.30-140 for diesel, but France and Germany have always been more expensive.

@BarryWhyte85 I recently drove through Germany and the Netherlands and it was higher than UK prices, perhaps Spain is different. The UK is generally "cheaper" than much of the EU apart from further East, Czech Republic etc where it's always less.

@BarryWhyte85 The Barca station down the road from where I am is €1.67 a litre for diesel, the Repsol station a mile up the road is €1.89 so that’s expensive. Lowest on the motorway in France on the way down was €2.29, highest I saw was €2.99, but that was last Thursday, assume more now

When the UK government announced the go ahead for a high speed train route I was 19. By the time they finish it I will be almost 41 years old. The red routes were abandoned. Only the blue route HS1 will be completed. A mere, what? 100 miles??👀
