@KenCarman I'm going off tools. Chisenhall was a good prospect. I think he got as high as 25th. Power didn't translate above AA. Injuries didn't really derail him until the end of his career. DeLauter would be top 5/10 prospect in MLB if not for injuries. He's just in a diff tier tool wise

I don’t understand why I’m getting ripped. Fans LOVED Lonnie and had a lot of hope for him until injuries limited him. DeLauter could be what Lonnie wasn’t.

@KenCarman @msoj77 Not all 1st rounders have the same potential. DeLauter would have been a top 5 pick if not for injuries coming out. That was said in that draft year. Only reason he fell to Guards.

@realcavsfans @Carter_Shade @Cavsanada The true answer is NFL style. Worst record gets 1st pick. It'll have a few teams tanking but will stop as many teams are now. You need to make it harder to get the 1st pick, not more accessible to more teams.

@Cavsanada The continuing dilution of odds just invites more teams to have hope of winning the lottery, and creates more incentivize to do the very thing they’re trying to protect against.

None of these solutions change the incentives. It just makes it harder for the worst teams to get top talents so we can continue to pretend their exclusively bad by choice and just not pulling themselves up by their bootstraps.

The Marte vs Myers convo was never about who SHOULD start. It was about who WILL start. This is the exact lineup I expected from Tito.

@bryce_spalding They got to give Marte a full time shot. He's young with a great skill set and massive potential. He's done everything they've asked of him. People forget he absolutely carried the Reds with his bat for a good stretch last year.

@bryce_spalding Reds and Guardians both being very undervalued by projections. I don't see either. Saw one projection algorithm had Guardians winning 74 games..wild stuff.

the Reds scored 2 or less runs in 54 of 162 games. that's 32% of their games and went 9-45 in those games. That means they went 74-34 when they just scored 3+ runs. Even if their pitching regresses a bit, which I have my doubts on, too, their offense is going to be SIGNIFICANTLY better.

I still have not seen anyone provide legitimate reasoning as to why a team who got better in nearly every way, and underperformed their pythag W/L in 2025 is going to regress from 83 wins to 77-79 that everyone keeps projecting.

I’m not going to make an official #Reds prediction this year, my only take is that I’ll be shocked if they win less games than 2025. A lot would have to go wrong, which the way things are trending with this stupid ass rotation injuries, were off the a bad start, but even then. I think they’re in the 85-88 win range. Offense will be significantly better. Rotation has more upside. Pen is deeper. Bench is better. The Reds had Gavin Lux & Jeimer Candelario hitting 4-5 last opening day and injured Spencer Steer played the entire first month and hit like .150. A lot went poorly and they won 83 games. Maybe that happens again, but I’m skeptical.
