After calling for the arrest and prosecution of several Democratic lawmakers who told servicemembers recently they can and should disobey “illegal orders” and uphold their sworn oath to the Constitution, while reposting a reply saying to “HANG THEM.” President Trump has now directly called for the death of the lawmakers - all of whom are veterans - calling their actions “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR” and saying it is “punishable by DEATH!”

U.S. President Donald J. Trump advocates for the arrest, prosecution, and execution of several Democratic lawmakers and military veterans who recently published a video urging servicemembers to refuse “illegal orders” and uphold their oath to the Constitution, calling them “traitors” and accusing them of “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL.”

In private talks with senior officials and aides, President Donald J. Trump has spoken about Venezuela’s huge oil reserves, estimated to be at over 300 billion barrels, the largest in the world, with Trump said to have received an offer several weeks ago from Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro offering to essentially give the United States rights to much of it, without resorting to military action against Venezuela. Despite this, President Trump reportedly called off those talks as well as any other negotiations with Venezuela, though on Friday a senior administration official, speaking on the condition of anonymity to the New York Times, said the talks were not entirely dead — and that the deployment of the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) and her Carrier Strike Group, along with other military movements in and around the Southern Caribbean, is a means to gain leverage over President Maduro.

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has reached out to Russia, China and Iran with requests to enhance its worn military capabilities and solicit assistance, requesting defensive radars, aircraft repairs and potentially missiles, according to internal documents from the U.S. Government obtained by The Washington Post. The requests to Moscow were made in the form of a letter meant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and was intended to be delivered during a visit to the Russian capital by a senior aide this month, with a similar letter being drafted for Chinese President Xi Jinping seeking “expanded military cooperation” between their two countries to counter “the escalation between the U.S. and Venezuela.” According to the documents, Transport Minister Ramón Celestino Velásquez also recently coordinated a shipment of military equipment and drones from Iran while planning a visit to that country, telling an Iranian official that Venezuela was in need of “passive detection equipment” alongside “GPS scramblers” and “almost certainly drones with 1,000 km [600 mile] range.” On Sunday, an Ilyushin Il-76 — one of the Russian aircraft sanctioned in 2023 by the United States for participating in the arms trade and transporting mercenaries — arrived in Caracas, Venezuela’s capital, after a circuitous route over Africa to avoid Western airspace, according to Flightradar24.
