There's an insect called a fig wasp. They hatch in figs, the males die after fucking their sisters, who then go into another fig with pollen, except they can't really fit so their wings get torn off. They then lay their eggs and die. The fig digests the wasps. This is the only way these wasps can breed and the only way the fig gets pollinated.

@next_gen177 @OPTheooo @FwSanjipiece @RJupiter7 Maybe it's a stretch, but Oda originally had a concept of there being two kinds of pirates: Peace Mains (chill guys) and Buccaneers (the looting & killing sort). The labels were scrapped but the idea remained. Perhaps this line alluded to this.
