@dcolthorp That is interesting! I wonder if you can try running without that for a while to see if the issue still happens.

Yep. 26.4 It usually works fine at first, and it's after a while of running and regular use that this happens. One other thought is I do use Rectangle Pro for easily resizing windows. This usually works at first and then breaks. It occurs to me that this is a possible cause and not an effect. Just FYI, in case I'm sending you all on a wild goose chase. 🙂

@darinwf I keep running into bugs in atlas where the bookmarks bar and forward/back/reload buttons in atlas stop responding. It's really frustrating! Another issue, possibly the same, is that I can't click the print or cancel buttons in the print dialog. Please fix! 🙏

@thegenioo @OpenAI Can you double check what version you are running? I wonder if you might be somehow stuck on an old version. Thanks!

I suppose @OpenAI has no interest in the Atlas browser. It has these basic issues, and one of them has been there since its release, yet they choose to ignore it, even when you report it here. When you hover over the middle of the screen inside Atlas, you see the cursor change to a typing cursor. It appears to come from the ChatGPT input field on the home page. And it shows up everywhere, no matter where you are. I do not understand how the team or users have missed it. You cannot enter full-screen video mode in this browser. No matter what website you are on. How basic is that as a feature? One team member acknowledged the issue, and two updates have been released since then, yet it still happens. I really want to use this browser, but issues like these, while small, ruin the experience. They are very basic problems overall. Kindly fix these, guys. @bengoodger @adamhfry @ngu_khoi @darinwf

@lereschke @adamhfry Glad to get this out! It’s a small step toward making pins more durable. We learned that many people like to close the last window and later click on the Atlas icon in the dock, expecting to see the same pinned tabs again. This is a subtle behavior of Chrome.

With ChatGPT Atlas, we aim to push the boundary of what a browser can be — integrating ChatGPT and evolving it into an agent that takes action for you. But even as we build that future, the basics still matter. For most people we talk to, their tab strip is overflowing with too many tabs (mine certainly is!). This week's Atlas release: revamped tab search and a new 'auto organize' your tabs button. Click to remove duplicates, merge windows, or let ChatGPT group your tabs in a way that makes sense. Just hit “update” in the top right to try. chatgpt.com/atlas

@jakehandy @ankushg There is an option in the product to enable that on a per tab basis. See the Tabs menu, but to be transparent, we plan to remove it. I share your love for the feature but we found that it doesn’t work to enable it by default as it is confusing to people who aren’t used to it.

@darinwf @ankushg that's awesome! i'll check it out another thing came up for me as i've been using it that I loved from Arc: popup/nested tabs. basically when you open a window from a tab, it would pop up over top and be a "sub tab" of that initial tab. loved this featured.

@ankushg @darinwf -- looking for a good way to give Atlas feedback - would love for pins and tab groups to persist even when you close/open new windows - any way to hide the extra bar that shows up with "Tab Groups" on it after making at least one group? thanks!

@prxshantbagga It’s a balancing act. We hear similar stories from people who like to keep things tidy and others who don’t want to have to be burdened with managing tabs. Scrolling tabs was inspired by vert tabs :)

@darinwf what i love about atlas is the restraint. clean interface. zero noise. an open tab feels like an open loop i owe attention to. i’d rather close every tab i’m not using than keep them lingering just for searchability. curious how you think about vertical tabs?

I posted about Scrolling Tabs in Atlas, and the way I use my browser now has changed. I never close tabs. They just overflow off to the right. But something I didn't really appreciate when we were developing this was how amazing this feature is in concert with Cmd+Shift+A...

@jakehandy @ankushg I just implemented a small change to restore pinned tabs from the last closed window when opening the first window, so you can close your browser window and then just open Atlas again and get that clean slate but still have your pins. Small step, but curious how you find it.

@darinwf @ankushg My flow in the morning is to open a new window and have all those tabs available for the day. Basically having the option for them to persist after the window is closed would solve it all. Arc and Zen are the ones I know that do this (haven’t used Dia)

@jakehandy @ankushg Thanks, this works :) For the second bit, that’s just the bookmarks bar. There is an option to hide it in the View menu. Tab groups are persisted to the bookmarks bar so you can find them there. I’d love to hear more about how you’d want pinned tabs to work, thanks!

@darinwf @adamhfry Atlas is becoming my browser without me wanting it to, I just prefer it so I always end up using it. But, I wish I could hack on this thing myself. For example, I use tab workspaces from vivaldi a lot, but normal tab manager extensions can't get the tab list from Atlas. I'd love to roll my own

I just want to thank @bengoodger and @darinwf for ChatGPT Atlas.... It changed the way I browse, honestly... it's only been around a month but I wouldn't be able to go back to Chrome at this point. I bookmarked the changelog and get excited like a kid when there's an update

@crsmoore Similar to a mobile browser. Very old tabs just age out completely are occupy almost zero system resources.

@darinwf It feels like searching for and activating a hidden tab should bring it to the left. FIFO

Then the icing on the cake is Cmd+Ctrl+Shift+LeftArrow to move the tab to the leftmost / first spot in the tab strip. Now that tab is suddenly brought back to the fore with all of the other tabs I've been recently working with. This really has changed how I use my browser.

Now, I can just use Tab Search to find again a tab that I know I used to have in view, and because I haven't closed my tabs, it means all of my tabs are available to Tab Search without my workspace being cluttered up. Cmd+Shift+A across my browsing history really...

@darinwf Fascinating! Do you think that the Swift Mojo bindings generator could eventually be upstreamed, or is it too custom for your use cases?

Glad to finally be able to share Atlas with the world last week! There's a lot of novelty under the hood. While Atlas is using Chromium, it's not built on top of Chromium in the usual way, which I think is pretty darn cool: openai.com/index/building…
