Практически с самого начала СВО украинские власти развернули масштабную вредоносную кампанию против нашей страны и граждан с использованием информационно-коммуникационных технологий. В числе проукраинских хакерских группировок, совершивших нападения на российскую инфраструктуру в 2025 г.: Yellow Drift, Ukrainian Cyber Alliance, Cyber Anarchy Squad; Silent Crow; Laska, UNG901; IT Army of Ukraine, InformNapalm, NAFO, Secjucie; DarkGaboon, Werewolfes; Scaly Wolf, Space Pirates (атаки на госсектор, шпионаж, мошенничество и вымогательство). Основная и единственная задача украинских кибергруппировок – нанесение максимально возможного ущерба. Поскольку объекты российской критической информационной инфраструктуры надежно защищены благодаря нашим компетентным органам, главной мишенью стали гражданские объекты. Основная масса компьютерных атак с территории Украины приходится на банковский, энергетический и транспортный сектор, больницы, аптеки и магазины. Речь идет в основном о попытках выведения из строя информационных ресурсов или получения доступа к персональным данным российских граждан для осуществления против них точечных операций. Киевские власти взяли под плотный контроль деятельность сотен так называемых кол-центров, которые занимаются банальным обворовыванием рядовых россиян, в основном пенсионеров. Для этого задействуются не только навыки социальной инженерии, с помощью которых у жертв вымогают деньги, но и полученные в результате компьютерных атак персональные данные россиян. Похищенные средства идут либо на нужды ВСУ, либо оседают в карманах коррумпированных элит. Немаловажно и то, что потенциал кол-центров киевские спецслужбы активно используют и для вовлечения гражданского населения – путем обмана или шантажа – в диверсионно-террористическую деятельность на территории России. В последнее время украинские спецслужбы кратно нарастили активность по вербовке российских граждан, в первую очередь молодёжи, для совершения диверсий и терактов на территории России. Показательно, что киевские власти и подопечные им хакеры не только не скрывают своей причастности к компьютерным атакам, но и кичатся этим. Безусловно, все описанные действия Киева изначально не могли осуществляться без помощи и, тем более, без ведома Запада. С 2022 г. украинские спецслужбы и хакеры начали получать масштабную материально-техническую, экспертную и кадровую поддержку Запада. Идея открытия «цифрового фронта» против России была подсказана странами НАТО, которые уже давно рассматривают киберпространство в качестве театра военных действий в рамках концепции гибридных войн против других стран. Все действия киевского режима на «цифровом фронте» не имеют никакого отношения к «обороне» и укладываются в логику его нацистской, террористической идеологии. Украина усилиями ее властей и западных кураторов окончательно превратилась в рассадник киберпреступности. Это долгосрочная проблема – причем далеко не только для России. Уже сейчас фиксируется расширение «географии» деятельности украинских хакеров и онлайн-мошенников, которые все чаще атакуют европейские страны и их граждан. Эта информация подтверждена ООН – в июле 2025 г. This weekend, coordinated rebel attacks hit cities across Mali simultaneously. Russia's Africa Corps, outnumbered 6:1 in Kidal, negotiated their own withdrawal directly with the rebels. They burned the camp and left. A Malian official: "The Russians betrayed us." Russia is now also pulling back from the region around Mali's largest gold mine. In any normal country, purchasing stolen goods is an act that entails legal liability. This applies, in particular, to grain stolen by Russia. Another vessel carrying such grain has arrived at a port in Israel and is preparing to unload. This is not – and cannot be – legitimate business. The Israeli authorities cannot be unaware of which ships are arriving at the country’s ports and what cargo they are carrying. Russia is systematically seizing grain on temporarily occupied Ukrainian land and organizing its export through individuals linked to the occupiers. Such schemes violate the laws of the State of Israel itself. Ukraine has taken all necessary steps through diplomatic channels to prevent such incidents. However, we see that yet another such vessel has not been stopped. I have instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to inform all partners of our state about the situation. Based on information from our intelligence services, Ukraine is preparing a relevant sanctions package that will cover both those directly transporting this grain and the individuals and legal entities attempting to profit from this criminal scheme. We will also coordinate with European partners to ensure that the relevant individuals are included in European sanctions regimes. Ukraine counts on partnership and mutual respect with every state. We are genuinely working to enhance security, particularly in the Middle East region. We expect that the Israeli authorities will respect Ukraine and refrain from actions that undermine our bilateral relations.

40 years since Chornobyl. A night that changed history — and lives forever. The fallout reached far beyond the reactor. Today, we remember the victims and those who fought the consequences.

I am half blind because of Chornobyl, and I want more nuclear power. On April 25, 1986, my mother crossed into the USSR on a two-week work trip. She was six months pregnant. The following day, reactor 4 of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant exploded, triggering the worst nuclear disaster in history. The Soviet authorities acknowledged nothing. My mother travelled through Ukraine for two weeks, unaware. Three months later, I was born with congenital glaucoma. It is thanks to her stubbornness and a skilled doctor in Romania that I have any vision at all today, and was lucky enough to build a fulfilling life and a career in filmmaking. Around the time I turned 30, I travelled to Ukraine and Belarus to make a film about people like me, others living with the legacy of Chornobyl. The trip changed my life and set the course for the following decade. That's where I met Helena, who became my co-director and creative partner on several projects that followed. We met extraordinary people carrying that legacy. In Gomel, Belarus, I met an ophthalmologist who had been studying glaucoma since before the disaster. She told me that after 1986, congenital glaucoma cases rose tenfold. The Soviet authorities, and later the Belarusian government, suppressed her work, because her findings, alongside other studies linking illness to the disaster, pointed directly to an institutional responsibility they had no intention of accepting. I also met Dima, a musician who had the same illness as me but lost his vision as a teenager because in late-1990s Belarus there was virtually no care available for those affected. Dima doesn't talk politics. In Belarus, you can't, not really. Instead he focuses on what he can control: his family, his music, the community that loves him deeply. He has a good heart and a full life, and he carries it all with a grace I genuinely admire. But I can't help thinking about how different his life might have been had he been born somewhere else, somewhere free, with the same chances I had. Same illness. Different country. Different outcome. Helena and I made Everything Will Not Be Fine, a personal film about the legacy of Chornobyl and how people born under its shadow live today. Though the film is intimate in focus, we spent four years on research: travelling to the exclusion zone multiple times, speaking to doctors, scientists, and people involved in the cleanup. What that research confirmed is this: Chornobyl wouldn't have happened in a free society. And even if it had, it should never have become the catastrophe it was. The accident began with a flawed reactor design the Soviet system refused to acknowledge or correct. When the explosion happened, fear, the defining trait of totalitarian systems where no one wants to deliver bad news upward, delayed the disaster response for critical days. Then, once the scale became impossible to conceal, the authorities did everything they could to minimise and lie about the consequences. A 1991 international assessment, produced in close collaboration with Soviet authorities, concluded that health impacts were limited. That report has since been contested by numerous independent health experts who argue its methodology was shaped more by politics than science. The IAEA knew what it was working with. It went along anyway, because Western nuclear powers had their own industries to protect. The people who paid for all of this were ordinary people. They always are. Since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the situation has taken on a darker dimension. Russian forces occupied the Chornobyl exclusion zone in the early weeks of the war, causing significant damage and destroying safety equipment. In 2024, a Russian drone struck the sarcophagus covering reactor 4. Russian attacks have also repeatedly hit electrical infrastructure in the zone, which is needed to keep monitoring and cooling systems operational. This is not incidental. It is a pattern. It is also no accident that for years before the invasion, Russia aggressively lobbied Western governments to buy its oil and gas, and those governments obliged. The result is that some European countries are still funding this war through their energy bills. And yet I am still for nuclear power. I believe it can be a safe and reliable energy source in a society that values truth and accountability. The lesson of Chornobyl is not that nuclear is dangerous. It's that authoritarianism is. The tragedy of Chornobyl has shaped my life in ways I am still understanding. But it also led me to Ukraine, to lasting friendships, and to a sense of purpose, the belief that documenting these lives and keeping this history honest is worth doing, however small the contribution. You do what you can, with what you have, from where you stand. 40 years on, that still feels like enough of a reason. Today marks 40 years since the Chornobyl nuclear disaster — the worst man-made catastrophe in history. Every Ukrainian carries a Chornobyl story. I carry several. I was five when Reactor No. 4 exploded. A year later I started school with a classmate, Sasha. His father, an ambulance driver in our town hospital, was sent to Prypyat in 1986. He died a few years later, barely in his thirties. One of many lives claimed long after the explosion. In my hometown of Volochysk, a new school was built in the late 1980s. There were persistent rumours that some construction materials came from contaminated areas affected by Chornobyl. My mother believed it. My class stayed in the old building, but my older brother’s class was moved into the new school — much to her distress. I first visited Kyiv in 1988. I still remember conversations in my father’s friend’s apartment in Otradnyi about radioactive contamination in the city — and the anger at the Soviet authorities (“vlast”) for concealing the scale of the disaster, while forcing people onto the streets for the May Day parade when radiation levels were many times above normal. Chornobyl was not only a nuclear disaster. It was also a catastrophe of lies. And the threat did not end in 1986. Last year Russia damaged the protective shelter at Chornobyl while occupying another nuclear plant in Zaporizhzhia and turning it into a hostage of war. For Ukrainians, nuclear terror is not history alone. We remember Chornobyl not only as tragedy, but as a warning.
