I would love to see Custard perform Caboolture Speed Lab at Magic Round. A QLD touch.

@AndrewVossy @Alkaline_Trio @FrontOfficeSEN I wonder if they are fans of rugby league, because what we've got now ain't it

Hearing the QLD Prem speaking about taking #NRLMagicRound to the regions.
If that means decentralising the round it will be the death of the concept; it'll be just like any other round.

Rugby league runs on hearsay, received wisdom and half-truths.
So I spent 6 months building a model to work out what actually correlates with winning.
Some of the answers surprised me.
Today it launches (and punters should read to the end...)

#NRL has eclipsed an average of 50 points per match over the opening 10 rounds (80 games) of a season for the first time in the game's 118-year premiership history.
While the average margin in games has reached 17.9 points.
👉 50 point touch footy with blow out lopsided result margins.
And tv and streaming now being turned off in droves after half time..
Remember this as you read or listen to those drowning in drinking the kool aid this week..

Remember when the main criticisms of Holden Cup were the wild scorelines and poor defence?
This NRL is now on track to have more high-scoring shootouts and one-sided floggings than the last year of under-20s in 2017.

@ReadingThePlay I am a rabbits fan. But turned off that game even with bunnies on the comeback. That's not the game I want for my kids in future. The 1 vs 1 physical battles are gone, its getting like an opposed training session.

Something something Wests Tigers can't win the premiership 50 points etc etc @ScottBaileyAAP

@ReadingThePlay This was the post I’ve been waiting to read. Lifelong rugby league watcher here and this is the first year I’ve hardly watched a full game. Sometimes it’s on in the background but it’s so hard to watch it’s like it’s a completely different game now. They have stuffed it up sadly

Ciraldo needs to challenge O'Brien to either make immediate changes to the Bulldogs attack, or exit the club.
Take your pick Adam, Dogs fans won't mind either outcome.
Behindthegreendoor@behindthegreen9
Adam OBrien made a side with Ponga, Best, Young, Gagai, Sharpe, KPP, Lucas into the worst attacking team in the comp Wonder how he’ll go with Tracey, Montoya, Haywood, Turpin and Salmon

So here’s the elephant in the room. 🐘
Was told this week by someone who works in the tv media space that the drop off of viewers in the final 30 to 40 mins of #NRL telecasts each week now significant, and in some instances at alarming levels.
The blow out results and touch footy shit style of game turning people off, literally. All for one more try and tv commercial more on average than last yr.
Major concern for both media opps is that in many instances a game is a lead into a major revenue show (like news bulletin or Matt Johns Show, etc) and so they in now so many instances they also now getting big drop off numbers.
Getting 9 tries a game and a few more commercials won’t mean jack shit in the future if the second half of your coverage is in free fall and your audience lead ins to key network shows plummeting.
We’ve let the tv and NRL game execs break down the original, traditional fabric of the game.

@JxxSucculent @pikey14 It's really not as bad as you think. The caution I followed when working there was don't take a bus or taxi, and their were couple of restaurants we were advised to steer clear of
English

@DarrenNoack @pikey14 There's no way 20 NRL players and their family will not have restrictions on their movement
English

@JxxSucculent @pikey14 Never once lived at 'compound', just resorts.
It's like saying your house is a compound because it's surrounded by a fence.
English

@DarrenNoack @pikey14 Probably fine for FIFO or normal workers in compounds.
If you're an NRL star then you're fucked
English

@DarrenNoack The biggest thing for the kids is being around other kids. I suppose private tutors would work for a short time, but the social aspect is huge.
As long as it all worked out for you.
