The Heat’s 2025 all star and their 2026 all star cant play together. Played 200 minutes together in the regular season and it went so bad that Spo hasnt played them together for a single second tonight. If they lose, seems like top of priority list to figure out who stays

Have said it many, many times: The cardinal sin of the Brunson/KAT pairing isn’t that they can’t sufficiently defend together; it’s that they’ve never had the offensive synergy to make the defensive shortcomings worth it. Not even close.

@ShaxNBA I agree completely but a nitpick would be I have Kolek over clarkson personally

The 8 are very solid in: Brunson Hart Bridges OG KAT McBride Shamet Robinson I wouldn't be surprised if the minutes come playoff time get cut down towards those 8. My pecking order for the rest is: Diawara, Alvarado, Clarkson, Kolek Subject to change

@ShaxNBA Right now, who are you keeping in the rotation when Deuce and Landry are healthy?

Immediate though is this is BRILLIANT for Utah IF they plan to tank the rest of the season to keep their pick. Lauri + JJJ + Kessler + a top pick in the draft + Keyonte + Sensabaugh That's a playoff team in the west

BREAKING: The Memphis Grizzlies are trading star forward Jaren Jackson Jr., John Konchar, Jock Landale and Vince Williams Jr. to the Utah Jazz for Walter Clayton Jr., Kyle Anderson, Taylor Hendricks, Georges Niang and three future first-round picks, sources tell ESPN.

@_analyKnicks Similarly, all of Kolek’s minutes align with KAT’s allotted minutes( would be the case if it weren’t for Kat’s foul trouble in the second quarter). This has been another partner with Kolek where they get the best out of each other.

Though Kolek didn’t overlap a ton with Brunson, he played nearly all his minutes next to Bridges, which has been a great relationship. They’ve been dishing to each other and have been an elite combo by net rating, each booning each other’s impact.

Maybe the best 2-way relationship right now is Mikal Bridges with Tyler Kolek. Kolek throws more passes to Bridges than anyone, and receives more passes from Bridges than anyone else! This is also the only Knicks duo both shooting over 50% off of each other’s passes!

@_analyKnicks This to me is the defensive version of Kat and Brunson, where I just don’t see any reason to not have at least one on the court at all times

Separately, it’s worth giving a shout out to “wingstop” - Bridges and Anonoby have been world beaters when on the court together, and with Brown’s aggressive defensive system, the Knicks have essentially needed either one or the other on court at all times to be a positive team:

30 games in, Mike Brown has shown proclivity to experiment with lineup combinations. Checking in on some of the most interesting trends so far with @databallr data 🧵👇 (note I’m using 50% luck adjustment on both O & D3P%, and removing low leverage, to stabilize low-min combos)

BBall Index@The_BBall_Index

The Knicks at a glance The Good: -Spacers can knock down tough shots -Takes a lot of midrangers -Very Efficient on cuts The Bad: -Not creating great looks from 3 -Not a great iso scoring team -Doesn't defend movement shooters well

@ShaxNBA Agreed, Knicks are far from the best package they could get, and fit would be weird. Already showed don’t get the most out of Giannis with a ball dominant guard(dame). Need to keep Kat for spacing and center rotation reasons. Other trades decimate depth

Here's my thing, I know everyone loves this and this is great if the Knicks have a shot, but I remain wary of the cost it and fit Giannis is not going to be a full time center, he just isn't. It's too taxing and he doesn't want to do it. The other route empties the wing depth
Shams Charania@ShamsCharania

Just in: Giannis Antetokounmpo and his agent Alex Saratsis have started conversations with the Milwaukee Bucks about the two-time NBA MVP's future – and discussing whether his best fit is staying or elsewhere, sources tell ESPN. A resolution is expected in the coming weeks.

@ShaxNBA @GeoffRasmussen_ has talked about this on @HotHandTheory . Not only does starting deuce have its advantages for maximizing the SL but it makes the wing rotations so much cleaner and more intuitive

I know Hart has been playing great but my takeaway from the SL especially is how much McBride should start when OG comes back Josh can give them similar lineups shuffling in with the starters and being that extra wing. If they start Hart they're slim with size on the bench

@HotHandTheory I think quickly and shead should be played together more, in the (very) small sample size they’ve played together, they have been great together. Shead’s poa defense allows Quickley to be in his optimal role off ball

Watch the defense of Scottie Barnes and Immanuel Quickley here. The reason Barnes and Quickley are such an elite, synergistic duo is that you can pair them with a high-level scorer like Ingram, maximize him, and they'll find other ways to impact the game.

@ShaxNBA Top left should be called the Jordan clarkson quadrant, it fits him too well😭😭. Would be interesting to see the volume or share of volume of self created vs set up for each player

@Elon0wnsMe Defensive epm is very volatile in small sample sizes this early in the season, however I would argue Kat has been a good defender this season, rebounding is a huge part of defense and opponents ORB% is 7% lower than league average when he is on the floor
