There have been several incidents involving U.S. aircraft in the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) area of operation (AO) within the last 24 hours: 1. A U.S. Air Force F-15E "Strike Eagle" was hit by Iranian fire and crashed in Iran. Both crew members survived, with 1 being rescued, and a large combat search and rescue operation is ongoing for the 2nd. 2. A U.S. Air Force HH-60W "Jolly Green II" conducting operations to rescue the downed F-15 crew took small-arms fire with at least 1 crew member injured, but it continued back to base. 3. The pilot of a U.S. Air Force A-10C "Thunderbolt II" ejected over the Persian Gulf, with Iran claiming responsibility for shooting it down. The pilot was recovered safely. 4. A U.S. Air Force F-16C "Fighting Falcon" briefly showed on flight tracking sites squawking 7700 (emergency) over Iraq. 5. A U.S. Air Force KC-135 "Stratotanker" was squawking 7700 (emergency) over Israel.

Not a single word or post from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) in nearly 10 hours, since the first reports of an American F-15E Strike Eagle being downed over Southern Iran.

Historically, Hikaru Nakamura has made numerous public accusations against other players without consistently providing strong evidence or facing meaningful accountability. Now that stricter anti-cheating measures are being implemented, he appears to object to them. If he genuinely believes that over-the-board cheating is so difficult, it raises questions about why he made such serious allegations during events like the Sinquefield Cup.
Endgame AI@EndgameaiChess

🇺🇸 Hikaru Nakamura criticizes anti-cheating measures at the Candidates. Speaking live on Kick with Jon Ludvig Hammer and Fiona Steil-Antoni, Nakamura called the security protocols “nonsense,” arguing they’ve gone too far. Players are scanned before and after games, with strict controls and multiple checks in place. “At some point you have to ask… who are we? Mossad agents in Iran or what? We’re just chess players.” He added that he hasn’t raised it with FIDE, saying he doesn’t see the point, and believes concerns about cheating at such a tightly controlled event are being exaggerated.

There has been a lot of misinformation about what happened at the Sinquefield Cup and the events that followed. Because of the upcoming Netflix documentary, there were limits to what I could publicly say until now. With the documentary about to be released, it’s time to set the record straight. Over the past couple of years, Joe Rogan and others have discussed the situation many times, often without a clear understanding of what actually happened. Given how extensively Rogan has talked about it, I believe it’s especially important that I have the opportunity to go on his podcast and address it directly. I’m planning on going on a podcast tour to make sure the truth reaches the world. Please share this, and feel free to recommend podcasts you think I should go on.

When the world piled on smear campaigns, coordinated attacks, strategic silence: no one stood with me. Not a single institutional ally. False narratives spread across major platforms tested my reputation and my career at the highest level. Others had state machines, endless sponsors, safety nets. I had grit, intellect, and the unshakeable American spirit inside. I rose anyway. I am American resilience 🦅 : independent, unbreakable, forged in isolation and still ascending. Intellectual excellence without apology. The will to win on my own terms. Before the Netflix spotlight shifts the narrative, I will select one premier American company as my long-term partner: securing the necessary resources to become World Champion. American greatness deserves American enterprise behind it. This is the moment. Bids open. ♟️🇺🇸♟️🇺🇸

Was machte der Staat? Armut erzwingt Kinderarbeit. Weniger Armut = weniger Kinderarbeit. Die Gleichung ist simpel. Anschauung gefällig? In kapitalistischen Ländern: Kinderarbeit praktisch verschwunden.

‼️🚨Maria Lvova-Belova, Russia’s Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights, under an ICC arrest warrant, openly described how she abducted a boy from Mariupol, forced him to stay in Russia, and broke his worldview. She recounts how Philip sang Ukrainian songs, said he loved Ukraine, and didn’t want to live in Russia. Then she boasts about how she “gradually changed his attitude,” and now he “doesn’t want to return to Ukraine.” This is not a story of “rescue.” It is a confession of a crime and clear evidence of the Kremlin’s systematic and cynical policy to destroy Ukrainian identity and erase a nation. This is exactly what the ICC arrest warrant was issued for. Every such interview is another piece of evidence for international justice, which will inevitably reach all those responsible. We continue to fight for every Ukrainian child, and we will bring them all home. #BringKidsBack

russian occupation is not peace. Melitopol journalist Anastasiia Hlukhivska was abducted by the russian FSB in August 2023. They raided her home, took her devices — and disappeared her. She’s been held for over two years without a single charge. Now she’s imprisoned in SIZO No.3 in Kizel, Perm region — the same hell where Ukrainian captives Yevhen Matvieiev and Viktoria Roshchyna died. A witness says she’s being tortured. This is russian “justice.”

@LevAronian Turns out it wasn't just the reputation of some that was being hurt, but it was them as people being hurt. That's not only unfortunate, but a tragedy we were all watching in real time. The kindness was missing for the last couple years. How could that not be enraging?

Dear friends, and chess family. A great tragedy happened to all of us with Daniel Naroditsky’s untimely death. He was a kind soul. A person who cared about our game and loved people. One thing i am sure of, he would not want his death to enrage people and make us look for vengeance. Losing a young and talented person , just like this is very hard, and to look for answers and to blame people is not going to do anything good to us. We are all to blame , each in our own way. Let us unite and aim to stop the cycle of hatred. Honor Danya’s legacy by providing help against cyber bullying. Let us be there for each other and grow up as humans with kindness, humility and passion just as Daniel strived to be.

2 sentences about Kramnik and long paragraphs about ”friends that didn’t help”. I am in disbelief about this tweet. Please @EmilSutovsky and @FIDE_chess do something about Vladimir Kramnik. Your actions now will be remembered from the chess world for years to come. Do everything in your power to make sure justice is served. For Daniel Naroditsky, and all other people who become victims of cyber-bullying.
Emilchess@EmilSutovsky

Amount of love given to Danya post-mortem is unprecedented. I can't recall anything of the kind. But here is the problem - where all of you were when Danya was alive and unwell? I am not talking now about stepping in when he was accused. Although it is a separate important matter. I know many people find it hard to express their opinion, as the problem is indeed huge, and striking a balance is nearly impossible. One thing is clear : the way Kramnik approaches it, simply can't be accepted. And his reaction on Danya's passing is appalling and outright shameful. FIDE is not a court of justice, but we will act within our jurisdiction. However, let's not oversimplify it. It is too simple to focus on Kramnik and forget everything else. Danya was clearly not at his best in recent months. He stopped appearing as a commentator for one reason or another, he was not his usual self. Now, all those who claim how dear Danya was to their heart, how good a friend they were, where have you been? What did you do? All these Kramnik attacks on Danya happened not this week or month. It was not like a shocking accusation, that killed Danya overnight. It kept haunting him for more than a year, even if there was not much of polemics of recent. So, I ask you, alleged Danya's friends, what did you do to help him for half a year or so? Did many of you write him to ask, whether he is OK? Why he, arguably the best online commentator disappeared from the screens? Did you text him to ask why did he stop streaming? Throughout 15 years I spoke to Danya many times, though we never were friends. He fascinated me long before he became a famous streamer. I met him when he just started being coached by my former trainer, Lev Psakhis. And we spoke rarely but in length many times since. I look at our correspondence from 2014, when he was thinking of a life path. And then later in 2017, and in 2019, and in 2021. Most recent online conversation was in 2024 when I invited him to comment on the Match in Singapore. And the last time I spoke to him in person was during the Grand Swiss in Samarkand, where he seconded a top player, hiding this fact for one reason or another. All the recent years I had a feeling Danya was not a happy person, although he made many people happy. Our last lengthy conversation took place in 2021, when he was already a famous online player and streamer, but still was considering a career of a real professional player. He was very much in doubt whether he is doing the right thing with all the blitz and streaming - he even considered moving to Europe to have more opportunities as a player, "but it is very difficult with all the online success I have". It came at a price. The boy with shining eyes had less and less shining left. And now, he is gone. Way too early. If he looks from above, he might be surprised to read about this or that person allegedly being his friend. Danya was kind to many, but it feels like most of the time he was lonely. Virtue signalling and like-grabbing is the worst way to pay respect to Danya. He was special on so many levels. He will be missed - or rather he is very much missed already. The Danya.

In watching the clip below of Danya's last stream and hearing the pain in his voice, how deeply the baseless accusations affected him, I am left so mad at what we all allowed to happen right in front of us. It's time to stop worrying about the backlash. I am calling on the FIDE EDC to remove Vladimir Kramnik from the FIDE record books, revoke his title, and disqualify his world championship. Chess is one of the most beloved games in the world and should be a place for kindness and inclusion. It should be unilaterally unacceptable to use a platform that Chess has given you to bully, harass, and slander a colleague. What Kramnik has done to David Navara, Hikaru, and Danya, and others can not be tolerated. It is up to our community and the governing body to set an example that this type of behavior will have consequences. Make it known loud and clear that Chess stands against these hateful acts. If you do them intentionally and maliciously there will be no place for you in our game. FIDE and it's EDC must establish clear policies moving forward around the safety of it's players both in person and digitally. The events leading up to this tragedy happened in broad daylight over the last 18 months. They could have been stopped. Nothing like this can ever be allowed to happen again.
