@100Covers I probably knew as much as any 15 year old Peel fan with a particular love for singer-songwriter English folk singers at the time but wasn’t aware of him or his music when he was alive.

@kadavy In the old old olden days, at least two years ago, there were people who were paid to do that specific job. You may still be able to find one or two.

@APHClarkson Fragmentation is the right word. I don't know a single UK person with family or friend connections to Israel across the spectrum from left to right (me included) who hasn't fallen out and cut off or been cut off. That's happened before but never to this extent.

@DaveCohencomedy And there is always something worse. Having dynamics shaped by Bibi or Nasrallah with intact chains of command is a disaster. A fragmentation of chains of command enabling all kinds of spoilers to pursue escalation and chaos without anyone able to rein them in could be even worse

If Sinwar had not launched Hamas's 7 October 2023 attack on Israel then Hezbollah's carefully cultivated image of efficiency and power would still be intact. After diving into a conflict started by someone else Hezbollah now looks like just another incompetently sclerotic regime

@APHClarkson Okay. That's a shame. But I wonder how many more times Hezbollah and/or Netanyahu can say "right, that's it, this time you've gone too far, it really really is the last straw" before someone intervenes to the relief of both of them? (Has to be Biden but time's running out there)

@DaveCohencomedy No, I lean to the more pessimistic interpretation of where the thread above is going in viewing a path towards more political fragmentation, infighting in Israel, unpredictability with more spoilers, chaos, new refugee wave hitting the EU via Cyprus
