i was 19 and casually seeing a girl. then one day! found a lump in one of my testicles while i was taking a shower. went to the doctor and it turned out that it was cancer and that they would have to remove it. oh, and i would have to have at least 2 rounds of the most intensive chemo out there if i wanted to not die. there was also the very strong chance that i would be sterile for the rest of my life. realizing that this was something that i might not survive i ended things and dropped off the face of the planet for the girl i was seeing, as i didn't want to end up being the dead boyfriend. she found out what was going on though and basically insisted that she be with me through it all. she came to every single 8-10 hour chemo session and helped me through recovery. fast forward 6 years and we are happily married with 2 kids and our 3rd on the way.

The day before yesterday a 'do not resusitate' form turned up on my bed unexplained. This morning my consultant came with his team to see me ,muttered something about crushed ribs and then signed the form. At the time I didn't realise what was going on. What should I do?

A woman I know found out her coworkers had a group chat without her. Not unusual. Happens all the time. What made it different was that she was the one training most of them. Helping with resumes. Eye rolls. “She tries too hard.” “Why does she act like the boss?” The next day she showed up the same. Smiled. Helped. Answered questions. But she stopped volunteering. Stopped staying late. Stopped reminding people about deadlines. Three months later the department was a mess. Management asked her why she wasn’t “stepping up” like before. She said, calmly, “I realized I was the only one who thought we were a team.” That’s it. No confrontation. No meltdown. Just withdrawal. And the wild part? People only notice your value when you stop giving it for free.

@sorchanm @GarNob Most likely sending guidelines to parents on Lamh when their child has zero motor skills and has severe intellectual disability. I know they are understaffed and I have great respect for most of them, but parents are not trained therapists. We rely on them to help us.

In 2021, I got sectioned. In 2022 and 2023, I had involuntary stays in hospital. I genuinely thought I’d never get better… Turns out, I was wrong, and today I’m celebrating spending the whole of 2024 hospital-free! 🎉

RTE has so-far admitted to criminally evading 21.7 million in employer's PRSI. Minister Heather Humphreys has stated twice in PQ replies that the 'Policy' of the Department of Social Protection is NOT to prosecute employers for Social Welfare Fraud.
