@SawyerMerritt @Starlink My wife and I just booked a trip to Italy. Delta and United were the final 2 competitors. We chose United due to Starlink. I won't say that it was the primary reason. Schedule was the primary reason. But it was the deciding factor in the end.

Delta rejected adopting SpaceX's @Starlink on its fleet because it wanted to provide internet connectivity to passengers via the Delta Sync portal, instead of the Starlink-branded portal. Delta has since chosen to partner with Amazon's LEO. This will result in Delta falling behind many of its competitors in offering high-speed WiFi onboard, as many other carriers are already offering or installing Starlink, whereas Amazon's LEO airplane WiFi for Delta is still a couple year away (or more). Satellites currently in orbit: • SpaceX's Starlink: 10,400 • Amazon's LEO: 300 (Delta rejection info according to Ron Baron)

@SawyerMerritt @DrKnowItAll16 @Delta Sadly, that is not how airline tickets are purchased. It is a factor, but the type of internet provided does not influence the purchase decision of most travellers. Its mostly initial purchase price. Notice the word initial.

My prediction is that this will have a far larger negative effect than @Delta believes. People are not loyal to brand as much as price and performance, and wifi is pretty much required by passengers these days, both for business and pleasure. You charge premium prices like Delta, you'd better have top of the line amenities, and they clearly don't. I'm not sure what the breakup fee is for LEO but they should pay it and go with Starlink.

@AIDRIVR The signal to watch is whether decel began before the child was fully visible. In residential edge cases, that early braking margin matters more than dramatic steering inputs.
