@EricTopol @RSNA Very concerning. A major concern for medicine and biomedical science

@SimsYStuart @drmichaellevin We didn't post a video for this paper. I believe the video you are referring to is for a paper on mathematics and morphogenesis we are currently working on.
English

I know. I’m just tasting sour grapes. You videoed the planning meeting for this paper and I got excited. I was anticipating new stuff. And what I read was old stuff well collated and enumerated. Like a textbook. I’m not being critical just giving my impression. Which is either useful or not 😂

@SimsYStuart @drmichaellevin I think some people from the materialistic camp are put off by Michael's provocative language. So this paper was partly aimed at them.
English

@SimsYStuart @drmichaellevin You're probably correct about the sterilization part. Michael is a brilliant thinker and gifted writer. One of the goals of this paper was to connect his ideas to the philosophical literature on teleology. So some degree of sterilization was inevitable.

@BlanchardPhD The reason is to make robots acceptable to humans
English

I honestly don’t understand the point of making robots in the form of human beings. Why two legs and not four or six? Why two arms? Why are the eyes only in the front instead of covering 360 degrees? Why the vertical orientation that requires more balance? Is this simply to make humans feel a certain way about them?

@ai_ngrosso Slower is not necessarily better. What we need is better science.
English

The "publish or perish" culture must perish. Scientists need time to think.
We just published our Slow Science Manifesto, where we argue that huge changes are needed in the way we fund, publish, and evaluate science.

@conservmillen @MattWalshBlog I speak Spanish. I enjoyed it. However, I had to put on subtitles to understand it.
English

@MattWalshBlog I like the dancing and the Spanish and gags. Could've done without the crotch grabbing.
English

I didn’t watch the NFL’s halftime show but I’ve seen the clips here. Just an absolute disgrace and a massive middle finger to the fans to have the entire show in Spanish. Football is an American sport. This is our culture. Our pastime. I was expecting a disgusting spectacle, but it looks even worse than I thought.

@jimdtweet @RogerPielkeJr @matthewgburgess @PatrickTBrown31 @mattkahn1966 Your metaphor is wrong. Mitigation is trying lower the sea level so your boat won't flood.
English

@RogerPielkeJr @matthewgburgess @PatrickTBrown31 @mattkahn1966 Adaptation is like bailing out the boat. Mitigation is like plugging the hole. Adaptation goes on forever without mitigation. Adaptation also includes catastrophic (non-recoverable) changes as new extremes are reached.
