Let me ask an uncomfortable question. There are a lot of surgeons being trained who feel not comfortable performing open surgery. They won’t convert MIS to open because they just are not comfortable. HAVE WE SKIPPED THE MIS to open paradigm of training.

Agents are finally starting to work in biology. We’ve partnered with Anthropic and major biotech vendors - Vizgen, AtlasXOmics, Takara, 10x Genomics - to build a tool that allows scientists to steer their own analysis with natural language. Raw spatial data to publication quality figures. Our team believes this will soon be the standard way biologists interact with data. Spatial biology agents look a bit different from coding products: - tailored to the molecular details of each kit type - run in sandboxes on very large machines - orchestrate data infra, eg. bioinformatics workflows, with tool calls - build graphical analysis notebooks to communicate results Detailed breakdown of engineering decisions, product philosophy and concrete flows follows:

A giant in the history of surgery has passed. Dr. Robert Bartlett @UMichSurgery saved more than 100,000 lives globally through his work on ECMO. There will be many appropriate accolades and tributes. I’m sure my alma mater will create opportunities for future generations to learn from his story, such as education, and memorials. But his greatest legacy is the lives he transformed - patients, families, students, researchers, inventors, surgeons, the field of critical care medicine, multidisciplinary teams, and global communities. Dr. Bartlett’s story reminds us of what’s possible when we dream big, when we work together, when we persist through setbacks, when we commit to a life of service.
