🙌 Expo is the best it's ever been, and it's about to get a lot better. We raised a Series B so we can go faster on the things that matter to you: faster builds, smoother native integrations, and the services to make end-to-end app development a delightful experience. There is a lot of work to do. This round led by @Georgian_io puts us in position to go do it!

@brian_armstrong I don't think it's healthy for the primary home screen modal to be about levering up. Financial leverage has destroyed so many lives.

I asked ChatGPT to give a thumbs up or down for all 100 senators. The results are ridiculous. All but 2 Dems got a thumbs up, all but 4 Republicans got a thumbs down (and those 4 Republicans with thumbs up are Murkowski, Collins, Romney and Britt...aka not real Republicans)

@GergelyOrosz We had a Waterloo intern last summer @BuildTrayd who built 7 or 8 useful internal tools for Trayd. He had an enormous bias towards action and just always improved a process if it annoyed him.

Inside a group of ~50 CTOs + founders. Talking about hiring new grads. 4 of them violently agreeing to how amazing University of Waterloo [Canada] is doing something so right - and their goto place to hire standout interns + new grads. What is Waterloo doing others are not?

When negotiating a construction contract: Never agree to ambiguous milestones like "25% completed". All this does is set you up to argue with the contractor about what constitutes "25%". Instead, peg progress payments to objective milestones, like "rough framing completed and signed off by city inspector". This way, there can be no dispute about whether the milestone has been reached / payment is due. - For more on the business of buying, renovating and managing real estate, join my mailing list at moseskagan.com

@thedankoe @nikitabier there have been a lot more of these blogs recently. I wish I could listen to them on my walk home, either the author reads it or have some ai voice do it.

@bskdany It is common for a company to make their engineering interview center around a problem that they’ve already been focusing on internally. It answers the question “did the candidate do it like we did it? Are there any blind spots we had?”

Etrade does not magically become a gambling company if it's users decide to gamble on 0dte options. You can counter that sports markets are gambling regardless if they are p2p order books vs sports book. I'd argue that sports betting, like poker, has been misclassified as the true test for gambling should be whether it is a game of chance or a game of skill. Fantasy Sports, for example, has been classified as a game of skill, despite 85% of users being net losers.

@bgurley I think it’s important for health insurance premiums to be pre tax which is hard to do outside of payroll time. Vast majority of people take the standard deduction so making premiums tax deductible wouldn’t leave people better off.

💯 Simple way to simplify our broken HC system. Get the employer out of the loop. US only structure. They are a reluctant and unnecessary participant.
