August 2025: “I have no plans to redistrict Virginia” GETS ELECTED: Immediately tries to redistrict Virginia. MORAL OF THE STORY: Never trust what a Democrat says when trying to get elected.

Spanberger works every day to make things MORE expensive for the people of the Commonwealth. 😖 When she's not doing that, she's looking directly into a camera to lie about that fact. The truth is, @GovernorVA is the enemy of affordability.
Tim@Griffin4VA

Virginia DEMs passed a SICK LEAVE tax today - HB 1207 - that they estimate will cost an Average Virginia Household AT LEAST $520 in new taxes per year for a home with two working people in it. Intolerable.

A Virginia Democrat from the Richmond area - declaring that 'all he knows about rural America came from Dukes of Hazard and the Waltons...' The same week Virginia Democrats declared all of Rural Virginia will now be ruled by Richmond and Fairfax... is pretty perfect.
Nick Minock@NickMinock

NEW: During a floor debate on gerrymandering, Virginia State Senator Lamont Bagby (D) says he knows a little bit about rural America because he watched Dukes of Hazzard.

No greater irony than the redistricting referendum passing by a razor’s edge of less than 3 points - underscoring the purple, centric nature of the commonwealth - as it creates the most partisan map in the nation.

@kerrydougherty The past few months I've seen some ugly stuff in my beautiful state and it all started when Spanberger won. So disheartening

@SpeakerDonScott This person is speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates. This is what Virginia has for leadership - a convicted drug dealer who was pardoned by an autopen. Unqualified common street felon pushed into power by DEI activists.

Per Virginia law: "A map of districts shall not, when considered on a statewide basis, unduly favor or disfavor any political party." Why is it that citizens are bound by Virginia law but our Governor & Democrats of the Gen. Assembly are not? @AssocAnderson? Anyone? Bueller?

WATCH: Virginia Democrat Governor Abigail Spanberger says the 10-1 Democrat gerrymander is a fair map, but not in Texas because their 30-8 map was “pushed through...without any buy-in from the people” and there are actually “five competitive seats” that “could be won by Democrats”.... Wolf Blitzer: “Critics say this ballot measure allows politicians to choose their voters instead of the other way around. How do you respond to that criticism?” Spanberger: “Well, I think that that’s fair criticism of places like Texas, where it was the legislature that pushed through a redistricting effort without any buy-in from the people. Here in the commonwealth of Virginia, certainly it was the General Assembly that drew the maps, but the maps were made available to the public. And so the public, when we, Virginians, went to the polls, we knew exactly what it is that we were voting for or against. And importantly, I think an important piece is that these districts, you said they could be won by Democrats, and that is — is a correct way to phrase it, because in fact, these districts, there are now five districts within the Commonwealth of Virginia where, based on historical numbers, they have a single digit area of potential victory. And so, that’s five competitive seats, frankly, compared to the two that we have right now. One being held by a Democrat and one held by a Republican. And so, it will be a lot of work on the candidates who are running to make sure that they go all across their new districts to earn every single vote, both in the primary later this summer and in the general election in November.”

As a result of the 51-49 outcome of the referendum to repeal non-partisan redistricting, Virginia now has the most partisan lines in the nation.

I'll be blunt. The worst thing isn't losing my voice in politics. The worst thing is that my own neighbors did it, and they don't give a fuck. I generally thought there were more good Virginians than bad. Apparently its almost exactly 50/50.

Governor Abigail Spanberger@GovernorVA

Virginia voters have spoken, and tonight they pushed back against a President who claims he is ‘entitled’ to more Republican seats in Congress. As we watched other states go along with those demands without voter input, Virginians refused to let that stand. We responded the right way: at the ballot box.

I will 100% be voting in the Democratic primary for the 7th District lobstermander, and I encourage all Right-wing Virginians to do the same. There are two strategies when doing this, depending on the environment and the district in question: 1) Vote for the most idiotic candidate who can win to ensure that Dems have lightning rods in Congress that the Right can fundraise and organize against. 2) Vote for the most Right-wing candidate who can win and subvert the Democratic Party from within. Either works for different reasons.

Virginians should treat Congressional races as one-party. Run as Democrats, vote in Democratic primaries. Blue dog democrats like Chap Petersen could, with rightwing support, win primaries in the new districts that are much more watered down (D+8) versus the old Dem districts (D+39).

All across Virginia, people made their voices heard – and they said “YES” to a stronger, fairer future. Wins like these are what’s possible when people organize and mobilize to defend democracy. Thank you to our neighbors in Virginia for showing up in droves!

The New York Times is doing the “>95% of votes in” thing now which means this is over. Dems will pick up a few tenths from “stragglers” but this thing will end up 52/48 Dems +4.0. A win is a win but this is then worst election result for Dems in Virginia since 2021. Dems are now breathing a sigh of relief and hoping the courts won’t strike them down out of spite and praying to Soros that Republicans won’t quickly erase their ephemeral gains. Just 4 points! An 11-point drop from Spanberger’s now forgotten 2025 margin. And only because of mail-in votes.
