@MacrodosingPod @ConnerHKnapp What’s the point of this nothing burger if you can’t just say it Are you afraid of being fired? Just say you don’t support abortion. Say you don’t support an open border. Say you don’t support trans agenda in schools. Say you don’t support mandated vaccines It’s not hard

@RobertF54186975 @sciencegirl It’s nothing to do with lens optics. And compression doesn’t quite capture it. It’s just perspective. The further the subject the more time the light waves have to parallelize. You would see the same effect if you digitally zoomed this video.

It is not an optical illusion, but the effects of using a zoom lens. Zoomed out, the distance is compressed, and the depth of the field of view looks much shallower. Notice how the poles alongside the track appear much closer together when zoomed in. Because they appear closer, travel from one pole to the next appears slower.

Some things I'm not sure if I liked: - Changes are applied just to the instance of an element (not to a class) - The UX feels like it could use some polishing, sometimes deselecting elements wasn't as easy as I wanted. - It's easy to select the wrong layer of an item and then change the wrong thing. Because of this I think I will use this for small tweaks and iterating on things but for heavier things I'll just stick to prompting claude do it. I could see that using this too much you could end up making a bigger mess of you code then when you tell Claude to handle it.

@RonanFarrow It would be better practice to also show some positive sides and why Altman is in that position. Nobody is in such powerful position if they only do bad stuff. I am never convinced by a journalistic piece that only shows one side.

(🧵1/11) For the past year and a half, I've been investigating OpenAI and Sam Altman for @NewYorker. With my coauthor @andrewmarantz, I reviewed never-before-disclosed internal memos, obtained 200+ pages of documents related to a close colleague, including extensive private notes, and interviewed more than 100 people. OpenAI was founded on the premise that A.I. could be the most dangerous invention in human history—and that its C.E.O. would need to be a person of uncommon integrity. We lay out the most detailed account yet of why Altman was ousted out by board members and executives who came to believe he lacked that integrity, and ask: were they right to allege that he couldn't be trusted? A thread on some of of our findings:

FWIW designers (like myself) used to code. Then in 2013, React came out, and craftwork became dependency management and CI. Effectively, boxing many of us out.

@AndrewGold_ok As a black person, I feel like we blacks should tune down the racism shout. Yes, our ancestors faced horrible things for us to get to where we are today. But that's then not now, now you even get black privilege in white own institutions.

Is i10e a bad name for a robot intelligence startup? i10e is a numeronym for “intelligence”. Like a11y, a16z, i18n. i10e. If it’s bad then maybe i should change it before things take off.

So besides the whole Iran war concept, could you give a detailed explanation as to why you’re so against Trump and the things he’s done as president? This account has been around a long time and I see a lot of propaganda but not much rational reasoning that would actually sway anyone to think differently than they already do.

Pete Hegseth out here doing Olympic-level gymnastics to bring back Confederate general names on U.S. military bases. "This is about restoring history and Army morale!" bro says, while twisting himself into knots to pretend it's not about Robert E. Lee & Co. who literally took up arms against America for slavery. Hegseth defending renaming military bases after Confederate traitors: “We’re not erasing history!” Yeah, you’re just doing backflips to rebrand Robert E. Lee as “some other guy with the same name.” Fort Liberty to Fort Bragg 2.0: Now with extra copium for morale. Treason cosplay in the Pentagon. Embarrassing.
