@heidicruzxxx @jpodhoretz I think it’s a great idea to add more walkable space in the city. But he does have a point that it’s going to be a challenge to keep it clean and not a homeless encampment without strict enforcement on it.
English

@jpodhoretz it's so funny how every Republican who lives in New York City just wants it to be as ugly and dirty as possible

@peer_rich I'm hoping Tesla scales Robotaxi and Optimus first so we can get atleast a 2-1 merge in Teslas favor.

@wholemars @sporadica I think 50k mars population over the next 30 years is doable with starships scale. Question is will AI give us the breakthroughs needed to ramp that up to 1m?
English

@sporadica he likes to set insane goals. Does this seem possible in his lifetime? Probably not. But if they try to do it they might get 1,000 people on Mars in his lifetime. If they aimed for 1,000 they might get 10.
English

trying to genuinely understand this bc this feels...impossible in his lifetime?
$7.5T is crazy, but okay, doable. but 1 MILLION people on Mars?? Yea I believe we will get there eventually, but Elon is 54yrs old
Either he thinks he's gonna live to 200 or we'll do this in ~30yrs?

MTS@MTSlive
SITUATION DETECTED: SpaceX has approved a new compensation package for Elon Musk ahead of its IPO. 200M super-voting shares if SpaceX hits a valuation of $7.5T and establishes a Mars colony of 1M people. He gets nothing if they miss targets.
English

@PoonamJakh55093 @DeItaone Yeah I give it 50-75 years realistically. But if AI and energy scale orders of magnitude per year then we’ll hit 1m on Mars within 25 years or so.
English

@DeanTheBuilder_ @DeItaone I strongly believe it will be done & honoured.

MUSK PAY TIED TO MARS COLONY AND SPACE DATA CENTERS
SpaceX has tied Elon Musk’s pay to bold goals like building a Mars colony and space-based data centers. He could earn massive share awards if the company hits a $7.5 trillion valuation and establishes a million-person presence on Mars, along with major computing capacity in orbit.
He gets nothing unless these targets are met and currently earns only a minimal salary. The plan is highly unusual and may create tension with Tesla, as both companies compete for his attention.

we are so very early in robotics.
the people starting now are going to look like the people who started SaaS companies in 2009.

English

If Starship scales and AI compounds over the next 50 years we can hit 1 million people on Mars. Robots will do a majority of the work, and we’ll have a fuel plant. Every nation will send astronauts, Most companies will try and be early movers so they’ll send people. Also explorers from Earth will visit.
English

@kennerado @SeanDinhR @sourceryy @Starcloud_ @PhilipJohnston It’s not even close. Blue Origin is way further ahead than the Chinese Rockets. Starship is at least 10 years ahead
English

@SeanDinhR @sourceryy @Starcloud_ @PhilipJohnston The Chinese are the only ones that I know of who even have something on paper that's comparable (pretty much a copy of Starship I think).
English

.@Starcloud_ CEO @PhilipJohnston expects SpaceX to have a "near monopoly on launch" for the next 5–10 years:
"Starship is way ahead of any other program."
"The manufacturing that they're ramping up is insane—like building three Starships per day potentially with their gigafactories."
"The problem with Blue Origin's rocket is, they don't have a reusable upper stage. As I understand, they're not even really trying to build a reusable upper stage."
"The way they talk about pricing is they say, 'We will be as good as the next best price from Falcon 9.'"
"Which, for people who don't know, the next best price from Falcon 9 is like 5x the price of Falcon 9."
