@Andercot No turning back now. We will all have our own robots in 5 years. The scale of it will lead to the greatest era of innovation ever by lightyears. I just hope we can power it all in the short term.

So I guess we are collectively on the cusp of seeing a billion humanoid robots enter every aspect of our daily lives huh

@wholemars @sporadica I think 50k mars population over the next 30 years is doable with starships scale. Question is will AI give us the breakthroughs needed to ramp that up to 1m?

@sporadica he likes to set insane goals. Does this seem possible in his lifetime? Probably not. But if they try to do it they might get 1,000 people on Mars in his lifetime. If they aimed for 1,000 they might get 10.

trying to genuinely understand this bc this feels...impossible in his lifetime? $7.5T is crazy, but okay, doable. but 1 MILLION people on Mars?? Yea I believe we will get there eventually, but Elon is 54yrs old Either he thinks he's gonna live to 200 or we'll do this in ~30yrs?

@PoonamJakh55093 @DeItaone Yeah I give it 50-75 years realistically. But if AI and energy scale orders of magnitude per year then we’ll hit 1m on Mars within 25 years or so.

MUSK PAY TIED TO MARS COLONY AND SPACE DATA CENTERS SpaceX has tied Elon Musk’s pay to bold goals like building a Mars colony and space-based data centers. He could earn massive share awards if the company hits a $7.5 trillion valuation and establishes a million-person presence on Mars, along with major computing capacity in orbit. He gets nothing unless these targets are met and currently earns only a minimal salary. The plan is highly unusual and may create tension with Tesla, as both companies compete for his attention.

we are so very early in robotics. the people starting now are going to look like the people who started SaaS companies in 2009.

If Starship scales and AI compounds over the next 50 years we can hit 1 million people on Mars. Robots will do a majority of the work, and we’ll have a fuel plant. Every nation will send astronauts, Most companies will try and be early movers so they’ll send people. Also explorers from Earth will visit.

@SeanDinhR @sourceryy @Starcloud_ @PhilipJohnston The Chinese are the only ones that I know of who even have something on paper that's comparable (pretty much a copy of Starship I think).
