Microsoft is FINALLY adding a "Feature Flags" page to Windows Insider settings that will let you manually toggle new features on or off without needing to use vivetool or suffering through CFR! (Hidden bits in 26300.8155, not enabled yet)

@Lakr233 It uses CoreText in two places, once in prepare() to measure segment widths, and in rendering to draw the final lines. What it skips is calling it for layout on every reflow. figuring out where text wraps at a given width is just arithmetic over cached widths.

Day 1 of Life After Epic: Had a productive morning installing all my editing software on my personal machine to get up and running to be able to do some freelance work if the opportunity arises. I've never had to pay for my software before. This sucks lol.

@DoesItPlay1 AI translation sucks and doesn't understand the context for the game. We are building out an all star human translation team for our Path of Titans game atm and we are not even a story heavy RPG game that AI does even worse on these types of games.

The comments under our latest post against AI are ... something. All too quick with their judgment. Translaters/localizers did a bad job and that seemingly justifies destroying their lives and purging their entire profession?! Has anyone thought this through until the end?

I hate Enhanced Input so fucking much. Nothing but trouble. Why would you wipe, and reconstruct ALL Triggers and Modifiers when Mapping Contexts change!? Look at the object count in the top right. 50,000 new UObjects in a matter of seconds thanks to a bug introduced in 5.7.

@SheriefFYI Intel GPU drivers are hell, especially on Linux. we had times where the driver broke all of compute shaders from working completely. Fully understand not supporting it.

I tried to file a bug against Intel's GPU drivers once and it was more costly than just giving everyone refunds, this is rational. Intel needs to get things together because rn unless you're a UE game you're SOL.
Cary Golomb@carygolomb

One of the recurring and persistent talking points when reviewing Intel iGPUs, especially on handheld where you have no real recourse to fix the problem outside of eGPU - Game Dev support on Intel GPU is a distant 3rd or sometimes just non-existent

Linux has a lot of problems I hope they fix but i dont think they ever will. glibc is one of them. wayland is another, much worse then x11, rolling release distros for gaming are a nightmare, distro breaks something in our game weekly at this point. I still can't have team members join calls with working audio.

For anybody saying "Just use Linux", you need to realise that Linux is worse than Windows. Windows has all the bloat, and while you can have Linux without any of that you still don't have tools like Remedybg, RAD Debugger and Super Luminal. Once you have such tools, then Linux is a suitable app development environment. But _it is still trash_ because of the whole Linux model of you needing to compile everything. The fact that you cannot run an app built using a newer version of glibc is an insane decision. I shouldn't have to upgrade my whole machine in order to run something built on a newer version. I shouldn't be worried that an upgrade will break my machine. I shouldn't be forced to compile things from scratch to work on my machine. I shouldn't be forced to install N packages, I just want self contained binaries I can just download and run. I shouldn't be forced to develop with an old distro to have "max glibc compatibility". I shouldn't have to worry about X11 / Wayland / Window Managers. I shouldn't have to worry about asking the user to select a folder, display a dialog or show notifications. Linux is such a huge waste of potential, if they got their shit together they would completely obliterate Windows. I first got into Linux in 2000, and even back then there was this "it will take over Windows any time now!". It's been _26 years_! The same way I'd pay quite a lot for Windows without any bloat, I'd be willing to pay for a distro that gives me all this.

@TimSweeneyEpic Developer mode shipped more then a decade ago and is already on all the devices, this is just backtracking and making the product worse. But people can't trust your opinion because you can't say anything negative about android / google due to the lawsuit.

The PSO explosion has grown so much that today we need massive cloud servers to deliver the PSOs. Each vendor has their own solutions. We should fix the root cause instead of building this massive infrastructure. tomshardware.com/pc-components/…
