Instead of looking inward and using this case as a way make improvements, the Commonwealth has doubled down.
Law enforcement and prosecution officials defend their actions at every turn, even going as far as saying they’re PROUD of how they handled the investigation.
Instead, it’s Turtleboy’s fault or the jury’s fault for not delivering justice to John O’Keefe. It couldn’t possibly be the fact they bungled just about everything they touched.
In reality, the Canton Police, the Massachusetts State Police and the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office are the ones who failed John O’Keefe.
He deserved better.

HALL OF SHAME 🧵
(Carrie's Karen Read case-ending commentary)
The eyes of the world have been on the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for the past three years in the case of John O’Keefe.
And what did they see?
Police and prosecutors making a mockery of justice, and fools of themselves.
Any time this case is discussed in the national media, you hear words like inept, bumbling, shoddy, incompetent and embarrassing.
The Canton PD, the Massachusetts State Police and the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office have become a laughingstock in a situation that should have been treated with the utmost seriousness and professionalism – the murder of a Boston cop.
They should have pulled out all the stops and followed every protocol in investigating the case and presenting it to a jury.
Instead, they acted in a manner that makes it hard to tell if they’re clueless or corrupt.
It started immediately on the morning of January 29, 2022 with red Solo cups and went all the way through the end of a second trial with the Blue Man Group.
Here’s a list of the absurd, ridiculous ways law enforcement and the DA treated the investigation and prosecution of the death of a fallen officer. This is why the public is outraged and has lost trust in the justice system.
In a normal world, having one or two of these would be a problem. The case of John O’Keefe has them all.
Let’s name them, one by one (with receipts because they sound so unbelievable):

Absolutely loved WNO’s La Traviata in Cardiff yesterday, it was glorious. Stacey Alleaume was incredible as Violetta, her top A was effortless. Unmissable.

@nationalrailenq @tfwrail It gets worse! Managed to cycle to Bristol Parkway only to be told by the guard there that the trains are too busy and the bike isn’t going to be allowed onto the train whether there is a reservation or not 😭🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
English

@nationalrailenq Nope, they’ve never taken a bike as I know. Hats off to David from @tfwrail for coming up with a solution to GWR’s problem, we’re having to resort to a Chepstow train and cycling across the bridge to rejoin a train at Bristol Parkway! What a palaver!
