After 3yrs of gestating as a PhD student, I’m introducing “Parallel Hippocampal-Parietal Circuits for Self- and Goal-oriented Processing”. My 1st paper out of my PhD is the result of 3yrs of failing better. Here to normalize that sometimes it takes a while.bit.ly/39AKbLF

After a long and interesting journey, our latest HMM paper found its home in @SciReports. Results show that transient neural states, identified through hidden Markov modelling of rsfMRI data, were linked to different patterns of thinking at rest. (1/5) nature.com/articles/s4159…

Men are more likely than women to develop Parkinson’s disease, and tend to have more severe symptoms. Tremblay, Abbasi et al. show that patterns of neurodegeneration also differ between male and female patients. bit.ly/2GfAN3s

Great, highly relevant work comparing naturalistic stimuli & resting-fMRI The authors (rightfully) highlight reliability of movie-evoked brain states across subjects & sessions But what about the left part? Resting-state is a random mess of states 😬 nature.com/articles/s4146…

This should become an important resource for everybody interested in cross-species comparison: High-resolution structural, functional, & diffusion MRI from over >100 macaques & marmosets + invasive tract-tracing data + cell-type immunocytochemy arxiv.org/abs/2010.00308

Our paper on the performance of uniform shrinkage, lasso, ridge and Firth's logistic regression for prediction modeling is now in print TL;DR: penalization does not compensate for a too small sample size doi-org.proxy.library.uu.nl/10.1177/096228…

Latest lab work in @naturemethods. We demonstrate a method for characterizing timecourses in fMRI and exploit this to grapple with the effects of "draining veins". nature.com/articles/s4159…
