This is Senate House in London. When George Orwell wrote 1984, the building served as the model for the headquarters of the Ministry of Truth (the propaganda ministry). The Ministry of Truth decided what was true, for example that 2+2=5. It was responsible for censorship and rewriting history, and it banned the word “free” in the sense of freedom. When we projected our banned TV ads onto buildings in London, we thought this would be a fitting location. Nineteen Eighty-Four was supposed to be a warning, not an instruction manual.

Chat Control 1 is dead. Let’s end Chat Control 2. Members of The European Parliament: stand firm in your position – no mass surveillance whatsoever!

European Parliament has just rejected the Chat Control proposal again! 🫶🚀 Your voice always matters! Stay ready and keep standing up for your rights!🫶 As a follow-up, ask your MEP to investigate: •Why are EPP MEPs following the agenda and timelines set by Google, Meta, TikTok, and other big platforms, instead of defending the fundamental rights of EU citizens? •On what legal and political basis was this vote reopened, and who requested it — was it driven by the public interest or corporate lobbying? •If this vote can be reopened once, does that mean it can be reopened again whenever the outcome pleases powerful actors — but not when citizens and civil society are dissatisfied with the result?

@windowsinsider Please stop saying things you know to be false. It’s insulting. There is no commitment. Windows is dying a slow death. Nobody involved has any motivation to stop it. It becomes more embarrassing every day.

@mitchellh @hmemcpy Had the same issue, indeed a simple google search fixed it. Annoying yes, but easy fixes give a fast dopamine boost, i'll take it

installed ghostty ssh’d to my machine hit the well-documented chicken-and-egg terminfo blamed ghostty and rage quit Snark aside, it is a really unfortunate thing and we try very hard to make it better. There are a couple config settings you probably could've turned on with one line and fixed everything; we don't default them to on because it involves overwriting your `ssh` command which is a sketchy default. ghostty.org/docs/help/term…

@ThePrimeagen I think we can all agree that AI is either transformative or not transformative, and that that transformation will happen over the next 18 months, or not.

Vim 9.2 is our first text editor that was instrumental in creating itself. The Vim team used early versions to debug its own .vimrc, manage plugins, and diagnose test results and evaluations—our team was blown away by how much Vim was able to accelerate its own development.

I am close to achieving 100% uptime. Whenever electricity goes out, UPS kicks in and keeps wifi/gateway/switch alive until gas generator kicks in. Meanwhile, gateway failovers to Starlink until/if fiber is available. This means wifi/cameras etc. never goes out. (and i’m proud)
