I was still operating a manual lift cage in the mid 80s. I would stay in the elevator all day and when somebody needed me, they would ring the bell and an indicator would show me which floor and I would use the rotating handle to send the cage up or down to fetch the passenger. The cage door was also manually operated so that was part of my job. One day there was an unusual amount of traffic. The indicator was ringing continuously and I was up and down up and down up and down. Once the activity died down I sat there at the ground floor with the cage door open and continued with my book. It was only after some time looking up and seeing a large crowd of people standing out the front of the building that I realised something was up. The building was on fire.

Nobody is skeptical of autonomous elevators because nobody alive today was even around to see a human elevator operator in real life before the last one got laid off. Automation is far safer.

@duooftwo Doing a console staggered release and using the feedback of the first group to refine it after release is honestly so interesting though. PS and Xbox peeps are getting a totally different experience.

Is there a word for the fear of being forgotten.. ? What if Pochita's devil concept was never revealed because it's a fear that just can't be translated well? It would make sense that the other devils fear him because their strength is directly tied to the extent of fear people have for their concepts of them. Being forgotten would be their primal fear, and it's something people fear as well. It would make sense to why certain things get outright removed from the world and others can manifest again. Like the only way for legs to realistically be forgotten would be if legs just didn't exist, but nuclear weapons aren't something that inherently exist, but were a discovery of science, so it they could theoretically be discovered again. As for the chainsaws, it could literally just be creative liberty within the character. We literally see the falling devil dressing like a chef and being obsessed with cuisine. It doesn't necessarily have to be related. By the end we see that he's not just a moving force of nature, but actually has agency, thoughts, and opinions. Maybe Pochita just simply thinks chainsaws are cool. But considering all of this, when Pochita ate himself, perhaps the only way to make a reality in which he is truly forgotten is to rewrite reality back to a point where Denji never met him.

Everything he ever wanted was always weaponized against him. He got all of his desires, but at the cost of what made them desirable. His true ending was simply forgetting it all and living without the thing that made him a target for people to use. He got his agency back and was finally accepted for simply being himself.

Don’t be swayed by doomer twitter. People have an incentive on here to be as extreme and negative as possible. Is it the ending we all wanted and expected? Prob not. But the journey was hella fun. And with all his other works getting anime adaptations with high praise, I’m sure most people are still positive on Fujimoto and I know I’ll be interested in seeing whatever he cooks up next

And the worst part is, with the reception of this ending Its possible that Fujimoto loses his fame and his future work flops or he gets blacklisted. And the anime might skip part 2 entirely

I used to think the whole “is this a jojos reference” thing was just a bit people had fun with. When I eventually watched, it was very eye opening to see just how many creative works actually did take inspiration from jojo. The onomatopoeia letters, the art style, the flamboyant posing, even stands. So many things really do be referencing it

If we’re being so for real, Nintendo has been dumping all their exp points into brand recognition and marketing that as their main selling point for many years. A lot of their games are simple, but they play well and are engaging so they sell on principle because they scratch a satisfying brain itch of familiarity and comfort for people

Here’s a spicy take: If someone made a game almost exactly like Breath of the Wild but it wasn’t labeled as a Zelda game, it would have gotten 7-8/10s across the board due to a lack of story, weak dungeons, and weapon degradation. I wouldn’t have given it that, and I actually LOVE both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, but people let Zelda “get away” with a lot more than other games and it gets to be a bit much to hear at times. If something is not very good in one game, slapping it into the Zelda world doesn’t magically make the thing good. This goes for any Nintendo property btw.

Well then, it really does just kinda fizzle out, huh? No big revelation. No grand twist. Just, done. By the last panel I kept scrolling thinking more was on the way and that it was building toward something, but it just concludes. With chainsaws still existing I’m guessing Pochita was the anxiety devil or some shit like that. Who knows. Overall I’m bittersweet. Still love Chainsawman. Enjoyed the journey. But also like, damn? Part 3 announcement soon..?

I JUST got done rewatching delicious in dungeon. Was not expecting to hear Damien voicing freaking DIO. It’s not too surprising, but it is pretty wild seeing him go from Smosh to taking such heavy hitting voice roles for iconic characters. Glad it’s in good hands
