@ArmchairAdml The Royal Navy is at best product of UK shipyard capacity under normal circumstances. A true rapid RN expansion would require an unrealistic industrial effort or the purchase of warships from abroad (mostly South Korea & Japan) or a use of armed merchantmen.

Massive bombshell. Top Senator Coons exposes the Trump administration for secretly diverting European military donations directly into their own Pentagon accounts. He confirms Washington hasn't spent a single dime of the allocated funds, completely betraying allies.

Intentional VPN backdoor on Android? Looks like it TL;DR + security researcher @cybaqkebm found a bug on Android + the bug allows apps to circumvent VPN tunnels, leaking user data + the bug was reported to Android, with a proposed fix + Android sais it wouldn't fix it + The bug report mysteriously disappeared + GrapheneOS already released a patched version + advanced users can manually patch their Androids via USB debugging (adb code)

A new VPN leak that allows any app to leak traffic outside the VPN tunnel has recently been discovered by @cybaqkebm Read more here: mullvad.net/blog/any-app-o…

Neguse: Where is this company headquartered? Noem: I don’t know. Neguse: I don’t know either. We can’t find it. We did find an address that’s registered to a political operative. This company that received 143 million dollars was incorporated 8 days before this contract went out. You want the American people to believe that this is all above board, that $143 million of taxpayer money just happened to go to this one company that doesn't have a headquarters, doesn't have a website, has never done work for the federal government before and is registered apparently or attached to a residence from a political operative, and of course one of the subcontractors of that contract, as you know, is a political firm that's tied to, to you back when you were governor of South Dakota?

NYT reports that Iran has access to 30 out of 33 missile sites along the Strait of Hormuz, access to 90% of its missile storage facilities, and retains 70% of its prewar missile stockpile. Explains the hostility even Republicans brought to the Hegseth/Caine hearing today. nytimes.com/2026/05/12/us/…

Massive bombshell. Rep. Ed Case explicitly confirms the Pentagon has lost a staggering 39 aircraft in the disastrous war against Iran, exposing the unprecedented destruction of American military assets. Pentagon CFO Jay Hurst desperately dodges the huge replacement costs.

@VLS_Appreciator "no defense against [heavyweight torpedo]" is a mere assumption. The range of a sub-launched anti-ship missile is superior to a torpedo against a target moving away at high speed. A missile is the sub's only effective weapon against something like hovercraft or hydrofoils.

I was wondering, in what tactical scenario would a submarine rather use a sub launched anti ship missile compared to a heavyweight torpedo considering there is no defense against the latter, that is much more deadly and that the range is usually comparable ?

digitalhealth.net/2026/05/palant… To me it feels as if the UK has already fallen off a cliff. The impending crash at the end of the fall will be rule by clown (again). It's a systemic failure of the political establishment to offer at least one choice that's not suicide in some way.

Use a feeder with cranes. 1) The crane helps with reloading. 2) use lighter than water material where possible (back in WW2 wood-transporting ships were difficult to sink with torpedoes), such as non-flammable foam.

@DarthFreder @TodayinHistory The correct approach was (and still liekly is) to be aggressive and force the enemy to deploy (=become slow) and distracted by fights in places where he cannot cut your axis of advance/your prongs. The rather static defences get established later, esp. to limit exfiltration.

@DefenceFreedom @TodayinHistory You can counterattack early with tactical close-air support and early battlefield interdiction to avoid pressure on the flanks by destroying the bridges and streets you do not need for your strategic advance.

@DarthFreder @TodayinHistory That's not counterattack, that's battlefield interdiction. The ratio fo available aircraft for this (hundreds) and the scale of the forces that needed interception (10+ divisions) in a landscape with few bridges relegated this to insufficient effectiveness.

A TOP EUROPEAN OFFICIAL today suggested the west could sabotage planes western companies sold to China. “Europe could ground more than half of all Chinese commercial planes by withholding software updates for China’s Airbus fleet,” said Mark Leonard, director of the European Council on Foreign Relations, in an article in the Guardian today. . HORRIBLE TIMING This was horrible timing, since China last week purchased more than 100 Airbus jets, and is believed to be planning to buy 500 Boeing jets during Donald Trump’s visit to Beijing this week. Trump is being accompanied by Boeing boss Kelly Ortberg. Leonard writes: “To avoid a future where it is poorer and less able to defend itself, Europe needs to develop agency in a world without order. This will mean behaving more like China – and maybe giving Beijing a dose of its own medicine.” However, China has never remotely disabled anything. All references to such actions come in evidence-free allegations from extreme anti-China hawks in the US about what might theoretically happen. The thuggish Leonard also suggests using the EU “trade bazooka”, a sanctions weapon designed for fighting unfair tariffs, against China. . ATTACK WEAPONS ‘USED UP’ At the same time, a huge row is escalating in Washington over accusations that US weapons for the planned war on China have been used up in the attack on Iran. Earlier today, Secretary for War Pete Hegseth revealed that he had referred Senator Mark Kelly to Pentagon lawyers for spilling official secrets about the lack of weapons. This came after Kelly said in a TV interview on Sunday that the US was running low on Tomahawk cruise missiles, Army Tactical Missile Systems, SM-3 interceptors, Thaad rounds and Patriot missiles. The equipment had been used to attack Iran, and it would take years to rebuild stocks for a war on China, Kelly told CBS News’s Face the Nation. Rather than providing evidence to deny the charge, Hegseth went to his X account to accuse Kelly of disclosing details from a confidential Pentagon briefing. However, Kelly said the fact that the replenishment would take years came from Hegseth himself. On 30 April, Kelly asked Hegseth at the Senate armed services committee hearing: “How many years will it take to replenish our munitions from Trump’s war in Iran?” “Months and years,” Hegseth responded, but then changed his answer, saying: “Fast.” . ‘NOT ENOUGH WEAPONS’: WASHINGTON POST The lack of weapons for attacking China was also discussed in a feature in the Washington Post yesterday. Former CIA agent John Culver of the Brookings Institute is quoted saying: “If the reports are true that we expended a huge portion of our long-range strike and theater missile defense capacity fighting Iran, then we don’t have anywhere near the inventory we would need for a China fight.” The problem with the west’s political leaders and mainstream media journalists is that they constantly discuss ways of launching and fighting a war on China—but have no interest in spending a moment on working towards peace. @DarthFreder Communist ideology in China is like Christianity in Europe; talked about, but not much believed in for real. China did just like Russia return to its imperial trajectory, the ideology is but a fig leaf.

@DefenceFreedom But in the communist dictatorship of Red China where the military belongs to the party and not the country, sacrifice for "The Greater Good" is still king. And 100k dead does not give you problems when you have a huge population and "wrap" the loss in communist glory.

@DarthFreder Dictatorships are very, very much concerned with staying in power. They are hardly ever capable of outright ignoring popular outrage. That works mostly in exhausting terror regimes (Pol Pot, Stalin, Mao, López) for at most a few decades.
