The amount of ball knowledge dropped today is insane
Arno About@basedbrickpush1

For years I HATED staff. At peak I had 16 people working for me and I would drive to work angry and drive back home angry. Just in a boiling rage. Every single day. Took me a while (years) to come to grips with the fact that it was ALL my fault. I had some personality traits that were really not ideal for managing people: -Nothing annoyed me more than incompetence. -If a job wasn't done right I was very likely to do it myself instead of just giving feedback. -I would be extremely blunt and straightforward with people. Oftentimes a little TOO much. We had people cry in the office every single month. It was not fun for anyone involved. Anyway - I am happy to report that I fixed two of those three traits. My team is happy, I'm happy, I don't spend every day in a boiling rage. Everything is awesome. The one thing I haven't been able to fix (nor do I want to fix it) is my lack of tolerance for incompetence. It's one of the few things that can really get me pissed off. For example: I organise events regularly. Every 6 weeks or so. We usually have about 40-50 people show up for some great networking. It's always a blast. I mix it up a bit every time so I get in touch with different restaurants for a quote while planning. They ALL have a staff member in charge of "events". The average ticket is about $100 / head. Sometimes more. So this is a $4000 - $5000 sale. I would assume one sale would pay for a good chunk of the event manager's monthly salary. And yet... it is impossible to get a timely response from these people. IMMMMMMMPOOOOOOOSSIBLE. It's truly insane. If I send out 8 info requests I get a reply from 4. The other 4 just completely ignore it. Never even reach out at all. This is their whole job. Managing events. Getting back to people that do events. And 50% of them can't even get back to you. Of those 4 that do respond MAYBE 2 will include any useful info. The other 2 will just tell me what is NOT possible. I'm not kidding, this is a thing. I remember asking about a dinner for 50 at 17:30 and they sent me back an email saying: "we don't have availability for 17:30". So I call the restaurant and ask if they have availability maybe at a later or earlier time. Turns out they could easily do 18:00. Imagine this is your restaurant. Imagine your event manager torpedoeing a sale because she can't be bothered to think in solutions at all. And yes, we allllllllll know that would NEVER happen at our place. Or would it? Because trust me, dumb stuff goes on at your place. Just like it does at mine. -You need to shop at your own store. -Call your own office. -Go through your own ads. -Reply to your own emails. -Get on a call with your own people. -You're going to find gaps and holes and horrendous mistakes. You're going to discover that not only your staff drops the ball... YOU drop the ball too. It's life, we're human, not much you can do about it. But you can't afford to ignore it. Trust... but cut the cards anyway. Doublecheck everything. Make it a point to go over all your processes regularly. It's the only way to make sure you're not dropping the ball in an epic way.

Information sucks. Was going over a quote with a prospect, covering what was going to happen in every stage of us working together. At every stage she said something along the lines of: - "yeah, I read about that" - "oh, I saw a video on that" - "yes, I remember seeing that in a blogpost" This happens often. You want an end result. Let's say you want to rank higher in Google, right? So you do what most motivated high achievers would do. You decide to look into it. Get a feel for what would be required to do this. You do research, read up, watch videos. Probably try out some ideas as well. Especially because every YouTube video tells you: "JUST DO THESE 4 THINGS AND YOU'LL BE NUMBER 1 AND YOU'LL MAKE A MILLION DOLLARS AND YOUR MOTHER IN LAW WILL ALSO FINALLY APPROVE OF YOU!!!11!!" (solid headline right there) And then you do those magic 4 things that the YouTube man told you to do. And it's not enough. Things barely move. So you go back to the drawing board. This happens a couple times. Maybe you ask Grok or ChatGPT or Claude or whatever AI gobbledygook name you use. And it proceeds to absolutely BURY you in information. But that never really gets you to where you want to go. You know why? Because... .... INFORMATION SUCKS. It's the worst. Because it doesn't DO anything. There was a time when information was really hard to get. And because it was scarce you could actually hoard it and use it to get an edge. But the Internet put that edge on life support. All of a sudden all the info in the world was available. And then AI came along and Hulk Smashed any remaining edge to information into oblivion. So we're now at a point where information by itself is useless. Only practical application works these days. So you end up with this: information + time invested in practical use + learning from repeated mistakes = expertise. Information has no real value without practical application and experience. We call this expertise. And expertise has actual value. Because it's hard to get. You're an expert at what you do. I'm an expert at getting clients through Google and Meta. If we both keep sharpening our expertise we just increase our edge more and more over time. Which is what we want to do as business people. Information sucks. Expertise is great.

If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. We are taught to be lenient on our personal enemies. Not God's enemies.

Once you plug out of the Matrix you suddenly see how bizarre normie behavior truly is. Constantly chasing outrage and drama. Abandoning one crusade for another as soon as the herde decides it's time. Ukraine good / Russia bad replaced by Palestine good / Israel bad replaced by Iran good / Ayatollah bad Sometimes there's some local politics thrown in for flavor. Maybe some celebrity stuff. But the flow of outrage never stops.
