No, “they” (primarily Israel and its leaders like Netanyahu) do not belong to the ICC in the sense of being a State Party to the Rome Statute—and this is a major reason why Netanyahu has not been arrested, though it’s not the only one. International Law is DEAD It died when the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu and NOT ONE country he visited enforced it. The UN passed countless ceasefire resolutions for Gaza. Ignored. The ICJ ruled Israel's occupation of the West Bank and Gaza is ILLEGAL under international law. Also ignored. When you start enforcing International Law for EVERYONE, then you can quote it.

Under international law, transit through waterways like the Strait of Hormuz must remain open and free of charge. This is what leaders made clear in their call on reopening the Strait today. Any pay-for-passage scheme will set a dangerous precedent for global maritime routes. Iran has to abandon any plan to levy transit fees. Europe will play its part in restoring the free flow of energy and trade, once a ceasefire takes hold. The EU’s Aspides naval mission is already operating in the Red Sea and can be quickly strengthened to protect shipping across the region. This could be the fastest way to provide support.

Arteta played a blinder today. No doubt. He showed up in every regard. Build-up solutions, open play solutions, pressing solutions… The only reason Arsenal suffered and had to defend deep at times/lacked ball possession was because of execution. Needed more from the players.

Much will depend on what Anthony Taylor told the VAR he saw. If the referee described it as we saw and chose a yellow, there's not much the VAR can do. But that's a red for me. Another case where the outcome is probably different had the opponent "played up" to it. #MCIARS

Except you miss five key points: First, Iran has a right to reasonably control non-Innocent passage through the strait. Second, as a coastal state, Iran can lawfully govern safety, environmental protection, and marine traffic in the Strait, particularly while the extraordinarily lawless activities of the aggressors are occurring there. Third, Iran can temporarily suspend innocent passage in the Strait during the ongoing aggression against it, as this is essential for its security. Fourth, Iran can assert maritime law enforcement in the Strait, especially with regard to ships relating to the aggressor nations, to others complicit in the aggression, as well as those seeking transit to or from the Israeli regime perpetrating apartheid and genocide. And fifth and most importantly, international law is not a smorgasbord. You can’t assert significantly less important provisions on commercial navigation (fees) while supporting aggression and genocide(the most serious crimes). And you can’t condemn measures adopted in self-defense by the victim while defending the aggressors. Unless you are hopelessly corrupt or a soulless hypocrite, of course.
