The idea comes from the Bible, the most successful work of fiction ever, and the story of a people called the Israelites, named after their ancestor who was called Israel or Jacob, the son of Isaac and grandson of Abraham. The legend developed and the name ‘Israel’ eventually came to refer to the people as a whole. The ‘Land of Israel’ is described as a promised homeland.

After meeting Netanyahu, the Board of Peace has gone back its demands that Israel withdraw from Gaza. Under the text published last week, the IDF withdrawal from the Yellow Line was to be gradual and parallel to Hamas disarmament. The Council now says Israel withdraws after disarmament is complete. The word "fully" was also removed. Therefore, the plan now calls for Hamas disarmament without IDF withdrawal. An absolute joke.

@academic_la The joke would be to expect Hamas to disarm once Israel has already withdrawn. Israel won this war. Hamas needs to disarm as a condition for Israel to withdraw. That was the original term of the Cease Fire and there is no reason to reward Hamas' intransigence by changing it.

This is an incredibly embarrassing thing for a Buddhist to release. One of the main reasons I practice Buddhism is its strict adherence to non-violence and the way it absolutely forbids revenge or the taking of life for any reason. It is such a beautiful worldview and you can’t support Israel or Hamas if you practice it properly.
