@ARCRaidersNews Begging the dodge kernel level for varying reasons but mostly Linux support tbh, feels like ML anti-cheat should be enough to me (based on what I’ve seen in a video by Basically Homeless on AI anti-cheat)

Embark is working on a new kernel-level solution for ARC Raiders' anti-cheat. They expect this new solution to sharply increase cheater detection. Their current anti-cheat already includes both kernel-level detection (EAC) and ML models (AI) trained on player data.

The ARC Raiders community never stops to amaze me, but lately in more negative ways. We FINALLY get the much needed second Trigger Nade Nerf, and all those people think about is finding the next exploit and how to ruin the situation again. And all that for some kills in such a casual game, where the loot is so easy to get anyway.... ONLY to pull a 180 in a few days/weeks to cry about the problem they created. (And lets not even start with the ridicioulus stretched screens and adjusted colors to see people 2% better...)

Arc 'fans' under each post are unbearable lmao, every update is never good enough and then everyone else seems to hate the entire idea of PvPvE (The entire drawing point and tension of the game) Why is it so cool to just hate games now? (That said, Embark pls fix anticheat)

@beyond_fps There's just going to always be pros and cons to both platforms, but Linux can't be the Mac or Windows level of streamlined + ease because it's fundamentally impossible to do so when the ethos is freedom and customisation at the price of having to DIY sometimes (imo)

@beyond_fps I saw you said in another reply something along the lines of "Linux has a lot of options that are all mid" but I think if you can't find that perfect distro then the point is you can literally mix & match desktop envs/window managers - As opposed to Windows which can't come close

This thread is so funny, it shows why Linux can't become mainstream as it is now. And these threads always end up with "just do sudo pacman xyzqwe" "just search the solution with some LLM, 1 minute job", or "wrong distro, use XYZ distro".

You are supposedly a very technical person working at a silicon manufacturer but you are stumped at the first step you are supposed to do when using an Arch distro: Update your package manager database (sudo pacman -Syu) The issue here though is that instead of looking up why or consulting an LLM (you work in AI don't you?) you're here on Twitter instead And you say in replies "well a normal user shouldn't have to do this" Okay. Then don't use Arch. Use Fedora, Bazzite, or whatever (FYI CachyOS has a welcome screen app that has GUI buttons for you to do this)

@slikey EndeavourOS (arch) installed flatpak but whenever I open the launcher, it downloads the same launcher version each time - Is this intended, or a potential error?

The goal here is that we are testing: - Stress authentication services with real traffic - Launcher installation itself on Windows, Mac and Linux - CDN connection and file access - Bug / Feedback report pipeline - Provider users with confirmation that they will be able to play - Rehearsal of our launch strike team to ensure our roles are clear and we operate well And at the same time we take stress off our services on launch day as now people are signed in and ready to receive the first "patch" which will be roughly 1.5 GB for the full game download.
