My 17-year-old niece thinks she gets to gatekeep my DEAD mom's name for my actual baby. You read that right. I'm pregnant and chose a name to honor my mom, who passed away three years ago. I was so excited, told my sister, and she immediately flipped, saying I couldn't use our own mother's name because her daughter (my niece) wants it for her future baby. This girl isn't even pregnant! When I announced the name, my sister and niece went ballistic. They didn't just bash me; they started spreading blatant lies and messaging my friends. It turned into this heartbreaking contest over who our mom loved more, and who loved her more. They know I'm high-risk with this pregnancy. My mom had her struggles and didn't raise me, but I reconnected with her and I loved her. This whole situation broke my heart, and I had to delete all their comments. @physicsgeek Our entire school was watching. I was in 4th grade each room had a TV. We were all so excited we were watching everything leading up to the launch and then all watched the explosion live.

My wife and I were talking the other day about potential career options for my 15 yrs old daughter who really struggles in school and is likely not college bound/material. For guys it’s easy… Don’t want to go to college, pick a trade or figure something else out such as a police officer, firefighter etc. It’s not as easy for girls. I think she would do well in sales since she is attractive, has the personality and is extremely social (spends hours everyday talking on the phone to all her friends). For parents with daughters who aren’t on the college path…what are some real, high-income career options you’ve seen work?

@gotrice2024 I’m okay with it as long as you take that money and put it into an interest growing account that she gets whenever she moves out. My cousin did this and her son has a nice nest egg to start life with.

Their 18 year old daughter just graduated a few weeks ago. Her parents thought they were being fair for not kicking her out at 18 but they are kicking her out after she graduates. They told her if she wanted to stay, effective June 1st, she would have to start paying them $200 a month plus the costs of her own food. If she wanted the rent with meal plan, it’s $300 a month and she can eat from their fridge. They feel they are teaching her responsibility in a controlled environment. I think the amount they are charging is reasonable and fair, it’s still cheaper than being on her own. Do you think this is too expensive too cheap, or do the just hate their kid?
