The men and women of the @USCG have demonstrated unparalleled heroism this year as the service transforms to meet the demands of the 21st Century and Make America Safe Again. Under President Trump’s leadership, the U.S. Coast Guard has been defending our maritime borders, stopping the flow of deadly narcotics and illegal immigration into our country, and countering America's adversaries in the Western Hemisphere and around the world — and they’ve been shattering records in the process. I am so proud of what our Coast Guard has achieved this year. We want to show our country’s profound appreciation for their devotion to duty and the countless sacrifices they make to protect our nation.

When I joined the Navy nearly 40 years ago, never in my wildest dreams did I expect my career in public service would lead me to the opportunity to serve as U.S. Ambassador to El Salvador. I am humbled by @POTUS's confidence in me, and I am honored by the chance to serve under @SecRubio. The American people gave President Trump a mandate to make America safe again, and @Sec_Noem's @DHSgov has achieved historic results in 2025 and it is just getting started. I can't wait to see what success they'll have next year. To protect the Homeland, we must also make sure the Western Hemisphere is safe and secure. I look forward to working with El Salvador and @nayibbukele to ensure the safety and prosperity of both our countries and our people.

It has been the honor of a lifetime serving the American people as the Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security. @POTUS @realDonaldTrump was given a mandate to make America safe again, and under Secretary Kristi Noem’s vision, we have made historic strides in cracking down on illegal immigration, stopping the flow of drugs into our communities, dismantling transnational criminal organizations, reinvigorating the U.S. Coast Guard, and ushering in a Golden Age of travel. I thank @Sec_Noem for the privilege of serving as her deputy. I take immense pride knowing that American citizens are safer, more families can live in peace, and countless lives have been saved as a result of her leadership, tenacity, and this Department’s hard work. Now, I humbly accept the nomination and opportunity to serve as U.S. Ambassador to El Salvador. I thank President Trump for the opportunity to continue my public service. President Trump keenly understands that if we are to have a safe homeland, we must have a secure Western hemisphere and thwart threats of every kind in our backyard. I am honored to contribute to that mission. El Salvador is a friend to the U.S., and I look forward to serving President Trump and Secretary of State @SecRubio in continuing our diplomacy with the Salvadoran people so that we can ensure the prosperity of the American people and further our national interests.

What a joy it was to join the crew of the @USCG Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw. For over a century, this ship and the Rouse Simmons before it have made the annual journey to deliver Christmas trees to families in need. This is a beautiful tradition, and it is a wonderful reminder of what this season is truly about: service.
